you haven't gone crap.

rest assured... :D

it does take longer to build your econ in GB. period.

I usually go to tech 2 at about 12 mins (while building up an army; without that, it'd be around the 10 min mark), move on to tech 3 at 22 mins and then hit tech 4 whenever i think of it, which is usually a LOT later since i'm fighting people.. :D

Booming to Imperial in AOK would take me about 30 min. My fastest to T4 in GB is around 44 min. I think it's because of the extra techs and power cores. At 200 carbon, power cores noticeably slow things down and if you hold off on building them everything moves at a crawl. I'm not really sure how the tech upgrades stack up since it's hard to directly compare some of them to AOK.

Monuments cost three times as much as AOK wonders :(. With the amount of resources required to build a monument, you can build a very impressive army.

I'm not much of a tech rusher. I can usually get into tech 2 in about 15 minutes, while building a forward base, and/or troops for a rush.

Tech 3 usually happens at around 24-25 minutes.

Tech 4 usually never happens. This is probably b/c I play against Leon alot! :D

I try to destroy my opponents w/a quick rush in the early ages. If that doesn't work, a tech 3 *pummel drop* should finish 'em! :D

* combined w/a quick air rush. :D

i dont agree....if you immediately build 4 - 5 new tcs when you hit tech 3, and pump out workers asap, you can boom, and move up techs very efficiently.

Hey,

Youre right but........

In AGE II you always did the same:

Fist houses

then turkeys or bushes

then the other animals and

then farms

In SW:

Some maps doesnt even have an animal or bush

so dont a have a permanent strategy for the beginning of the game.

Basically, because Ensemble Studios made both and they used the exact same engine, but added flying units... other than that they changed names and sprites.

I never really played multiplayer yet because my modem service is funky for this month. I play a lot of campaigns so I'm not really ready for multiplayer yet. I used to play AoK A LOT so I knew how to run the game quickly.

Very true. In AoE/AoK, I used to win the game by building wonders rather frequently. Especially in AoK, it was often quicker and less painful to build a wonder than to deal with having to attack a very well defended fortress. In GB, I assumed the same strategy would be useful, and the first few games I actually did build Monuments. But since then, I have generally not built them, as it is too expensive, and, like you say, much more worth it to build an awesome army and just go kick the enemy's butt.

It'd be nice if they gave you some options about this. For instance, instead of having 'monument race' be a noncombat option only, have it be a type of setting like 'score,' 'conquest,' etc... then if you select that, just as it can ask you what score is required to win the game, it could ask you what amount (1000,2000,3000, etc) you want a monument to cost, in resources. That'd let you regulate (just as with choosing the score) how long the game will last. The more it costs, the longer it lasts.
