digl
http://www.lucasarts.com/products/starfighter/splash.htm It says X-BOX special edition features The PC version will be released later, however, will it have those features also? I hope so, It would be stupid that they release it after the xbox version and take content away from it, If its already developed maybe they do that for some commercial/marketing reason or whatever, but I hope they dont Someone here knows? Agen
Do you think LA would betray pc? hmmmm...... i dunno. it could be x-box only.
Wilhuf
LEC says that Starfighter for PC will indeed be available this month. No idea if it will have any of the 'special xbox features' though. Looks like PC version is single player only. Seems that it will be the same as the PS2 version. A pity.
Darth Simpson
It's scheduled for release on January 22nd in the US, and January 25th in Europe. I was hoping for some multiplayer action, but it seems like LEC will never give us an arcade game with online options.

Wilhuf
Definitely digl. The Racer2 page even says that the game is designed to encourage 'dirty play' in multiplayer (ramming the opponents car gets you more points). A PC version would be a lot of fun. Original pod racer wasnt bad, but just didnt seem to have enough interaction with opponents.

Nob Akimoto
I hope Starfighter flops so horribly on PC and has such a large backlash that LEC goes back to it's deserved franchise, X-wing. This is all BS, while FPS gamers have traditionally been given more attention(look, they had reasonable editing friendly games, they're getting more time for development, especially with the likes of JO, and the time they're given.) TG and the X-wing series have been shafted continuously(IMO anyway.) It'd be nice if for once that the space combat crowd got more of what they asked for, and the developers more time to do what they want, rather than getting stuck with quick releases to match a movie release date, or quick workarounds because of lack of support by the publisher. Darth Simpson
I'd like a new X-Wing title too, but not at the expense of Starfighter, or any other arcade game for that matter. Sometimes it feels good to blast things in a simple way, and not having to fiddle with shield configurations and the sort. Give me X-Wing, give me Starfighter. CaptainRAVE
I played Starfighter on the PS2. I sooooo hope the PC version is much better. The gameplay sucks, the graphics suck (for such a modern game) and the voices of everyone really get on your nerves. All that space on the PS2 DVD and each fighter has two different things to say. The only funny thing was when one of my wingmen got killed and goes "ARRRGHHHHHHHH", and the other winglady goes "YES!!". Another good thing was Darth Mauls ship which has super powerful weapons . Id probably give this game about 2/10 for effort.
Darth Simpson
the graphics suck They're miles and miles ahead of Battle for Naboo at least. That game was baaad...

Ushgarak
The PS2 version had a two-player mode. Won't they even bother porting that over?

Antilles
I hope there is mp...it's on PS2 - as secret - and on the XBox - which is one of the option -.......why don't they just pass it to PC? If u want X-wing + Starfighter...it = Rogue Squadron, which is the best game i have ever play....
digl
It will probably have MP the features I asked about are this ones 5 New Bonus Missions More 2-Player Racing New 2-Player Dog-Fighting Mode Expanded 2-Player Capture the Flag Arenas Enhanced Graphics they are listed as Xbox exclusive I guess graphics will be enhanced, but Im not sure if the other things will be included in the PC version. Lord_FinnSon
I have been waiting for this game in addition to JK2 and Knights of the Old Republic. Every since they confirmed that Rogue Squadron 2 would be GameCube exclusive, Starfighter has been the only game that comes close enough to that arcade gameplay; I wonder will they also port Jedi Starfighter to PC after it has debuted on PS2. As a side note, I don't think that Battle for Naboo sucked so badly as people would like to believe(perhaps a little too short just as Starfighter and would have needed better enemy AI), because it was actually nice to see that modified Rogue Squadron engine sporting some new features like rain, snow, transparent water, better textures, etc. Not big deal, some of you might say, but I think it was interesting way of taking that old engine much further, before they buried it completely. Kurgan
Serious Sam for the PC had split screen (as well as online) multiplayer, and it worked quite well. If you lack a fast enough internet connection, but have a good machine (with a decent sized monitor), split-screen is a good option to have for multiplayer (especially for coop for example). That is pretty silly that it isn't going to be ported over. What I don't like about all the talk of ports is that people seem to assume that PC gamers all use mouse+keyboard for games, and all consoles just use those gamepads. Consoles these days have far more controller options (including keyboard and mouse, unless you're talking about the Xbox, where MS refused to make them for it). PC's have always had joysticks being associated with them for gaming. There are hundreds if no thousands of gamepads, steering wheels, arcade style, and flight-stick style joysticks for the pc, in addition to the "gaming-ready" optical mice and trackballs and keyboards. True, not everyone has one, but there are so many joysticks and gamepads out for the pc, anybody could get one if they were so inclined, making console to pc ports a very simple thing indeed.
