JP, i played the game a little on my brother's PS2 and thought it was OK. The plot and sorroundings are a little like Total Recall the movie, which is not a bad thing. The good; wide open areas, great weapons, and driveable vehicles. The bad; the level design and indoor areas were a little sparse. The textures in one area would look photo-real than kind of cartoonie in another. I think the PC version should look much better than the PS2 thanks to higher resolutions and sharper textures. The keyboard mouse combo should improve control as well. When the price drops a little more I may purchase it for the my PC.

I have the PS2 version.

Its about a guy named Parker who works a miner on Mars for an organization called 'Ultor'. Ultor promises its miners that they get good pay, living and working conditions. But the truth is that they don't. They get beaten by guards, share bunks and enviroment suits with other miners, and a mysterious plague that kills of miners.

Then a woman named 'Eos' gathers miners to fight against Ultor. That group is called 'Red Faction'.

Theres a Red Faction2 thats coming out. Im a big [V] fan, so I'm looking foward toward it.

I've got the PC version of Red Fation, though I haven't had much of a chance to play through it to the finish yet. I've gone through the first couple of levels, and I think it's a good game. The GeoMod might not have been utilised all that well...but then, someone had to introduce it sooner or later, and there will always be teething problems when introducing something like that. I'll reserve final judgement until I've finished it...although the HL-like ending doesn't bode well. I thought the endings of both HL and OpForce were rubbish. The only ending I liked was the one for Blue Shift (got it on budget for £6...certainly not worth the initial asking price of £14 :p).

I had hoped that Volition would bite the bullet and release RF2 for the PC as well...but that may not happen. A shame, IMHO, because if they can learn from past mistakes, a sequel can only be better...
