I was almost a military man way back when, I actually got into West Point, but I decided against it, it made a LOT of people unhappy. But like Bon Jovi says: "Its my life." anyways, I digress, I think the military is a great way to get a job out of college, especially in today's job market...companies who see that you have served on your resume will be very impressed...

Hey guys, the Army is pretty cool, cause the Marine Corp is too poor to have M1A1's or 2's ;) Oh and the 101st Air Assault is getting plenty of action right now, more so than any Marine unit is right now. :) Then again Special Forces units do get 80% of all action anyway. ;)

ARE YOU CRAZY!!?? Serving your country is a very honorable thing, anyone who says anything against it is a coward. Well thats my opinion.

Dying for your country isn't honorable... What's honorable is making the other poor bastards die for theirs.

Personally, I think it is your duty as a citizen to serve in the armed forces if you are called upon to do so, but since this country has such a huge standing army plus many more reserves, I don't think a draft will ever be necessary, barring a catastrophe (knock on wood)...

When you look back at the last World War, thousands of men volunteered for service, volunteered!!! That is unheard of now, to actually volunteer for a war. But times were different back then, a lot more people valued this country back then than they do now. Before September 11, the safety that this country provides, as well as the standards that are set, economically, socially, politically, etc... were taken for granted and greatly underappreciated. It is a tragedy that it took thousands to die for America to regain some sense of purpose other than making money.

After 9/11, we finally see the guts this country always had and some people thought we had lost. And although our government does stick its nose where it doesn't belong, and may I add it does so frequently; and we may seem like a greedy, money driven country, there isn't a chance in hell I'd want to live anywhere else in the world. If that means part of my civic duty is to serve when called on, you are damn right I would.

P.S. Don't bash the military, many a soldier died protecting my rights as well as yours.

You mean : I want you to remember that no bastard has ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country.

:tsk:

Actually, the USMC has plenty of M1A2.

If your gonna say the USMC is to poor for that well then the Army is to poor for the M40(Sniper Rifle),AV-8b,V-22,CH-53,M82A1(.50 Rifle),and the whole line of USMC landing craft.

Don't say anything about something not properly researched.

Depends on how you look at it.

Sure they crash...

But so did about four UH60s at the beginning of Op. Enduring freedom.(The personel had already got off and it was just the crew on board)

The V-22 just happens to carry alot of people.

I'm not even gonna go into how many UH-1 Hueys crashed when they were first introduced in Vietnam.
