Silent_Thunder
Well, I was playing Asheron's Call yesterday and that holds 1,500 people... So it looks like I have 15 hundred players held in my computer..

DemonKiller
well I got an Intel 1.4ghz cpu, 256mb of rambus memory, GF2mx, XP professional, and a 56.6 modem.....which connects only at 26.4 cuz of the local phone line....DOH I seriously doubt I could even do 1on1 let alone inflict 16 players on my teeny tiny pipe however.....if the game can run on my work computer..now that's a different story hehehe love pings in the teens
Krak3n
Depends if you mean online or offline. Online even people with cable connections or ADSL could only hold 4 max with pings of around the 100's , no matter the speed of the machine. It all depends on the connection of the person hosting the game. Offline then i think most people machines can hold 16 or more. As long as you have a decent processor and Graphics crad then u'll be able to hold 16+.
Kurgan
I also have a floppy drive! I believe it's accurate to say that the number of players one computer can "hold" is more dependant on their 'net connection, since (assuming of course you meet the minimum system requirements to run the game in the first place) you can scale down the graphics/resolution, etc to increase performance. It might not look pretty, but I figure most people could hold 16 characters (whether bots or humans), but somebody with a crappy connection isn't going to have much luck hosting a 16 character game where those are all HUMAN players connecting... My broadband connection should be sufficient, both for hosting and joining such games, however... assuming the server is relatively low lag that is. JediDante
Well I can hold 16 in Q3 but as for JK I don't think I will! Prob will stick with 4 to 8 players. my specs I know suck! but will let me play JO. 766mhz, 512MB ram, Geforce2 MX/400 64MB PCI (No agp slot ) 40 gig hard drive, DSL Connection
ZeroXcape
I'm sure most comps will hold 16 people rather nicely.... JK2 runs nice on low-end machines.
Agen
Oh, my computer can handle that easily BUT my connection can't.
Darth Ewok
Well I usually play MOH on servers with 20-32 players. So i'm sure I can do 16 in JKO. I just hope I can do it with all the graphical settings maxed. With MOH I have everything set to it's highest detail except the shadows. The Omaha Beach level in MOH with around 30 players or so runs terrible. I push like 15-20fps when looking down on the beach (or up to the base)... and that makes me worry that JKO won't run so well with it's graphic settings up. I've read so many things about how they use 1024x1024 textures for characters and all, I dunno what they use in MOH, but i'm sure it's not that high. I remember one of the devs saying "It runs like a dream", I wonder what his system specs were...
Backslash
In Q3, I can handle about 10 players max, 12 in Half Life. Like Kurgan said, its mostly dependant on your net connection, then from there its going to be your processor speed and ram that help you in the long run. Desslock
Going to rustle up a server box once I get an ADSL line to my new house. P4 1.6ghz, 768mb RAM, 20gb HDD, and some other cheap stuff I wont need to use much. Its a server box after all.

Darth Ergotht
Ok, you have to look for your upload speed first. I'm connected on a DSL but my max upload speed if 16 k/sec. So if you have a DSL, you better check that out ! I'll play a lot in multiplayer game but there is one thing I do hate, I mean really really hate, and it's lag. For the sake of the game, those who have a 56k, don't go in games with the title "No lag!" Friendly yours, Darth Ergotht

DarkEra
Don't know exactly. All I know is that I had XP Home on 3 of my computers and I had constant problems. Put on XP Pro and I had none. Must be Microsoft's way of getting your money.

Dan12R
Well, I know my computer can handle it. It's just a matter of the connection. I've got a crappy one, but if we put it on a LAN, I should be able to pull it off.
