Kyle d'Tana Posted April 30, 2002 Posted April 30, 2002 Well, I've seen, that several peoples here, are german or speak german. I wanna know who? So, all germans or german speakers( no matter if can speak only a few words!) response here in german( or maybe english!!).
SuicidalXWing Posted April 30, 2002 Posted April 30, 2002 I have some German in my blood, but that's about as close to German as I come. Although I could include frau, herr, doktor, ja, nein, and a few others as words I kinda know.
Rogue15 Posted April 30, 2002 Posted April 30, 2002 odd, I dreamt last night that this guy had me install some software, and it turned everything i typed into German!! Man, that was pretty cool... the closest i am to german is pennsylvania dutch. I'm also part Irish...
SuicidalXWing Posted May 1, 2002 Posted May 1, 2002 Well, I'm Pennsylvania Dutch as well (that's my only form of German).
Redwing Posted May 1, 2002 Posted May 1, 2002 Death is German. In fact, German is her first language despite the fact that she lives in California. I'll get her to post when I see her
Devil Doll Posted May 1, 2002 Posted May 1, 2002 I know some words in german, some normalr verbs, some songs and some rude words (those songs are really fun) but the most importan person in this post maybe will be death
Death Posted May 1, 2002 Posted May 1, 2002 Hallo. Ich bin jetzt da. Yay! Meine rechtschreibung in Deutsch ist nicht besonders gut weil ich in der dritten Klasse nach der USA gezogen bin. Sorry! Aber vieleicht hilf mir dass ja!
Wraith 8 Posted May 1, 2002 Posted May 1, 2002 euh.. how are pensilvania Dutch German????? cause Dutch..... well ... that is a different language than German.... I speak Dutch... that is my first language.. my second would be English and my third is German.... my neighbour country is Germany. and im going to the grand prix of the Nurnburgring in Germany
SuicidalXWing Posted May 1, 2002 Posted May 1, 2002 Well, they call it Pennsylvania Dutch, but it's actually German. Just think of the Amish they are Pennsylvania Dutch (German). They speak German and English, so that kinda makes it obvious.
Wraith 8 Posted May 1, 2002 Posted May 1, 2002 if im getting what your saying is that Dutch is a mixture of English and German?? hahahahhaah no way my friend. its nothing like that at all.... ik spreek nu Nederlands. Maar begrijp jij nu wat ik zeg dan? ik bedoel, als jij Duits kan en Engels, en je zegt dat het het een mix is van deze twee talen, vertaal dit dan maar even :D
SuicidalXWing Posted May 1, 2002 Posted May 1, 2002 No no no. What I'm saying is that Pennsylvanis Dutch is not Dutch at all. It's completely German. I have no idea why it says Pennsylvania Dutch, but that's what its called. I think it had something to do with the Puritans when Pennsylvania was established.
Rogue15 Posted May 1, 2002 Posted May 1, 2002 ya when germans moved to pennsylvania they called themselves pennsylvania dutch i know there's a different spelling to it though....maybe Dutsch?
Rogue Nine Posted May 1, 2002 Posted May 1, 2002 Durr. You shouldn't. Deustch is just the way Germans refer to their language. Dutch is a whole culture, not just a language.
SuicidalXWing Posted May 1, 2002 Posted May 1, 2002 Actually, I think you're right about somebody confusing it as Deustch, wasn't me though. It probably got confused back when the settlers came in, so they messed it up. Wasn't me or anybody here who messed it up, its those ancestors of somebody, maybe me. Who knows? Who cares?
Nute Gunray Posted May 2, 2002 Posted May 2, 2002 Originally posted by Rogue15 ya when germans moved to pennsylvania they called themselves pennsylvania dutch i know there's a different spelling to it though....maybe Dutsch? 1) Mennonites/Amish move to North America. 2) Most set in eastern PA, central western PA, and northeastern OH. 3) when queried as to their homeland they answer "Deustchlande" 4) non german speakers in the area assume they mean "Dutch-Land" or something 5) since they are "dutch" living in PA, they become the Pennsylvania Dutch. Kyle d'Tana Posted May 2, 2002 Author Posted May 2, 2002 Ja, Ja dass ist ja schön, so viele Deutsche hier. I see, that in the US, several people speak a few words in German!! I've never thought that!!!
