Could the force be real?

here's a theory:

perhaps we all have the ability to use this "ki" (lets call it that for now)... and maybe its genetic. However, the problem is that the gene pool is so dillute. If a man and a woman with 'strong' Ki (e.g. good luck, smart wit, fast reaction time) were to married, wouldn't they're kid, be even luckier, smarter, and faster?

It may sound sort of sick, but maybe through selective breeding, someone could be able to control his Ki energy.

On another note: The reason Martial Artists have such fast reaction times is because of training. I take Karate myself, and your reaction time gets good by sparring other people. Your timing gets better, you read movments more easily, y'know.

On an even wilder note: Maybe there's an alien race out there that can use the force, and all we need to do is meet them, and they'll tell us how to use it? lol... never mind that last note.

Call me a star wars geek if you want, but i would really want to be able to use the force and travel in a star ship to different planets :)

in some sense i beleive that it exists..but i also know it's just a movie.

one question, how the hell are there humans in a galaxy far far away a long long time ago, what did some of them somehow go across infinite galaxies to immigrate here? just some questions to lucas on how his story contains humans in it?

If people immigrated to Earth, and if Star Wars was real, wouldnt it be cool if it was only jedi that immigrated to earth, then wed all be able to use the froce, but o well its nt real

Given the fact that the universe is infinite everything is possible.

Think about it, if it never ends every conceivable form of life or force is possible or even happening right now or it happened a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

It is logical. Scientists would back me up here.....don't look at me like that. I'm not crazy!

i think it is real. for one i was in a car accident and walked away, the driver died on impact and the guy in the back seat is still in ic, the accident was 8 months ago. two, my friend shot at me with a co2 powered pellet gun and i saw it coming straight at my chest and i stepped out of the way and three, i saw a 120 pound guy punch through a 6 inch thick concrete slab and didn't even get a scratch.

something like the force has to exist..........i only need to figure it out.

it would b very stupid if the force would exist , what u think is gonna happen then , ofcourse people would start throwing each other around by using the force push.Or they would start throwing lighting everywhere , nd thats bad:mad: or they would start to use the force heal power to heal cancer , aids etc. and thats good :) ..........make ur choice

The force doesn't exist, Lucas made it up using bits of the world around him - i.e - Zen spirituality, Chi, Ki, Chakras, meditation etc...etc...

So, in essence it does exist in different forms - Lucas just made it a hell of alot stronger.

Ever seen Bruce Lee's one inch punch - don't tell me he's not channeling energy through his fist (force push!?) and punching a guy across a massive hall. It's been captured on camera!!

You all have a sixth sense... ever just think to yourself "it feels like someone's watching me" ... then you turn around and there's someone there watching! Ever know when the phone is gonna ring?! Happens all the time for me.

I think A force exists, but not as represented in Star Wars... Lucas basically mashed together alot of the theories that already exist in the world and therefore created the force. If you don't believe, then you don't have it! Just my 2c

What's the name of the guy who can bend spoons and stuff with his mind?? That's a form of "The force" isn't it?

What about healers... my sister was cured of a bad skin disease by an old woman who basically spat on her hands and then rubbed the saliva into my sisters skin!!! Horribl I know but it worked... also my brother was cured by a man who claimed to have the "gift of the burn". Basically the man could use his saliva to cure bad burns. He told my brother to get a particular type of lizard, and lick it's belly, and then you'd have the gift of the burn.

My brother found one, licked it, and he has this gift... no lies. I live in Ireland BTW and this was down in the country side where belief and superstition is a bit more rife... weird though eh?

humans only use 20% of their brain capacity right? So there might a chance that the other 80% could contain our ability to move things with our minds, kinda Force like huh?

I hope the force is real, since I'm kinda a lazy fella, so I could Force-pull the TV's remote controller into my hand;)

Actually, IronSkull, humans use 100% of their brains. It's just that we only use 10-20% for voluntary actions. The rest is used to control our heart beat, nerve synapsosis (sp?) and what not.

The FORCE isn't real, since it was just made up by George Lucas. But it was actually based on the concept of ki/chii, which I believe DOES exist.

I can't believe people are seriously having this discussion.

Can I bend spoons with my mind? Sure. I think about it, my hands move, and I bend the spoon. No mystical nonsense needed.

And all this about the Ki and the Chi, and the Blah, and the Yadda - all these martial arts master are merely employing creative use of physics and biology. It's all well understood by scientists, even though it may not be well understood by some of the people posting to this thread. Humans have an tendency to classify that which they do not understand as super-natural. Only later, once the understanding comes, does the fog of mysticism lift.

Does "the force" exist, as we've seen in the movies? We've seen no proof that it does, which is not conclusive that it doesn't exist. Merely, to date there are no artifacts, nor experiments that can be run, which consistently prove or disprove the existence of anything resembling "the force", or any other extra-sensory perception or powers, such as telekinesis.

I urge people to not let their enthusiasm and desire for "the force", to cloud their objective judgement and common sense. Saying categorically that it does or does not exist would require a leap of faith, as there is no evidence to support either position. What can be said is that there is currently no evidence to support the existence of "the force".

Actually, its worth noting that that dude who bent spoons was actually a fraud. He rigged his props by pre-bending the spoons, thereby weakening the metal and was easily able to just rub the spoon and, by rubbing it properly, caused it to just bend.

A talkshow host (I forget who) asked him to come on the show, and surprised him by requesting that he use the shows props, which had not been tampered with by the "psychics" crew. He couldnt do anything.

Just the same, though, I believe there is some sort of sixth sense, although it could be an extension of something physical. The body does give off a magnetic field. It seems logical to me that this field could be extended in a tense situation, thereby offering increased awareness of your general area. This could acount for the feeling of someone watching you, and other situations.

Arent there incidents of soldiers at war displaying a sixth sense as well?

Much as I hate to burst anyone's bubble, it's a common myth that we as humans use (fill in percentage less than 100) of our brains. Actually we use the whole thing. I can post links to support that later (to reiterate what was said by others).

And Lucas made it up anyway ("The Force") even if he did "mash together" various religions and theories. ; )

You're thinking of Uri Gellar, btw, and yes he's been debunked as a fraud.
