guybrush guy Posted June 7, 2002 Posted June 7, 2002 I know this is'nt a Lucas game, but does anybody know what happend to the game. It was sopposed to be released in the US but i not sure if it ever was. the game was sopposed to be prommising with iis half cartton annd cell-shading i played the demo it was pritty good
BooJaka Posted June 7, 2002 Posted June 7, 2002 Hey yeah. I remember some stuff about that game. What happened to it?
DasJan Posted June 7, 2002 Posted June 7, 2002 A fantastic game, yeah! Dinamic Multimedia, the publisher, went bankrupt and they took the rights with them. So if not a wonder happens this game (it was only published in its Spanish version) will not be translated to other languages. Das Jan
tkuhns Posted June 10, 2002 Posted June 10, 2002 So does anybody know where one could buy a copy of the Spanish version?
DomStLeger Posted June 10, 2002 Posted June 10, 2002 At adventuregamers there was a rumour that the company was close to sorting out the dinamic situation, and finding a new publisher or something. Only rumours though, but fingers crossed.
Marek Posted June 10, 2002 Posted June 10, 2002 It's so sad. They got screwed before (not getting a dime of royalties from the US release of Hollywood Monsters). I feel so sorry for the developers. Runaway is a great game. They are really trying to sort it out, so let's hope they do.
itsgood2slide Posted June 10, 2002 Posted June 10, 2002 Is there anywhere I could download the demo you played?
Marek Posted June 11, 2002 Posted June 11, 2002 Make sure you don't get that demo from this Czech site, it's actually a beta and not meant for publishing. I would suggest GameSpot, were it not that you have to pay for downloads these days.
DasJan Posted June 11, 2002 Posted June 11, 2002 No, it's not the full beta. It's just like a second demo, with another scene like the "official" Demo. Das Jan
guybrush guy Posted June 11, 2002 Author Posted June 11, 2002 ok hears it all in a nut shell, its the beta version, but it is only the second stage of the game. There is no voice acting but, there are english subtitles. when you download the beta you are going to have to download a codec for the graphics becuase most computwer dont support cell shading without drivers. i will report back later with the web adress where you can dowload it the file is around 180MB i said the same thing to when i first saw it to!
guybrush guy Posted June 11, 2002 Author Posted June 11, 2002 http://www.gamesdomain.com/demos/demo/1511.html but i'm not sure where you get the codecks you should try the game anyway
DasJan Posted June 18, 2002 Posted June 18, 2002 For those of you who are interested in "Runaway" (quite a few, I think) and can read German there is a very interesting news bit at Adventure-Treff. In short it says: "Runaway in English (and German) gets more probable." Das Jan
mxbx Posted June 18, 2002 Posted June 18, 2002 the backgrounds in that game look great! anyone know who the artists are?
DasJan Posted June 18, 2002 Posted June 18, 2002 Most probable some Spanish guys who did nothing else (except maybe Igor and Hollywood Monsters). But I don't know exactly. Das Jan
Prendo Posted June 19, 2002 Posted June 19, 2002 If anybody is interested in the offical website for Pendulou Studios, the guys behind Runaway, well here it is: http://www.penduloustudios.com The site seems to have been given a face-lift since I was there last, but alas, the official Runaway section of the site, hasn't been updated. I still refuse to give up hope, I believe that soon, the game will be released in English, or Dinamic Multimedia will have one very peeved guy on their hands. Damn those bastards, greedy little sods. Not wanting anybody else to get their hands on the rights to Runaway.
Prendo Posted June 19, 2002 Posted June 19, 2002 Hollywood Monsters was never released in English was it? It looks like one hell of a fine graphical adventure game to me. I'd love to get a chance to play it.
