ThePeople'sJedi
I apologize if this has been discussed before. I've been wondering why Obi-Wan was so adamant about Anakin not going after Padme. I guess my question is why does he believe that he can't take Dooku alone? He proved he can handle himself well 1 on 1 in TPM. Any thoughts? leXX
He knew Padme was O.K and there is safety in numbers!
Rogue Nine
He wanted Anakin to keep focused on the prime objective at hand, not his desires and impulses.
ET Warrior
Obi-Wan knew Dooku back when he was a jedi, and he was a very powerful master.....not to be messed with...he knew how good Dooku was and he needed help
Kryllith
On top of that, Dooku headed the opposition (so far as they knew anyway) against the Republic. It's the old kill-the-head-and-the-body-dies-too theory. Obiwan felt it was important to eliminate/capture/whatever Dooku in order to head off an interstellar war. mez1109
Shouldn't Anakin have sensed that Padme will be alright, he is a Jedi, probably didn't focus.
Rajess MoDuron
1 on 1, Obi-Wan has to try to KILL Dooku. 2 on 1, they can shoot for a capture. But Anakin was having none of that anyway.
Hannibal
Originally posted by Rajess MoDuron 1 on 1, Obi-Wan has to try to KILL Dooku. Dooku was one of the most powerful Jedi in the galaxy. Obi-Wan could in no way come near to killing him 1 on 1. Dooku used the old style of fighting. One that was more suited to saber vs saber combat. The modern Jedi was trained to fight against blaster wielding enemies. Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon are two of the few Jedi who actually fought an enemy that used a lightsaber (and that in no way made them experts). If you look, at no time in the fight with Obi-Wan did Dooku even seem like he was having a tough time. Unlike when he was fighting Anakin who was using his aggession. ET Warrior
I dont think Obi wan had any intention of capturing dooku. "I can't take Dooku alone! IF we kill him we can end this war right now!" But he knew that he needed anakins help, because dooku was much too tough for him.....
Natty
Also coz of Anakin's feelings for Padmé it clouded his vision when she fell out of the carrier coz all he could think about was her. Up until then Anakin was pretty much focused. But even if you look back a lil further to the excecution scene when Obiwan is telling Anakin to focus blah blah blah, all Anakin could worry about was Padmé, but once he realized she was gonna be ok since she was taking care of herself (by climbing up the pole) he relaxed and could focus on himself. Besides, as its been said many times before, Padmé is the only person he's got left to love now
Arkum
Because Obi Wan wanted to end the war, and he knew that Tyranus is much too powerful to take on alone. That's why he needed Anakin's help, besides he sensed Padme was alright, and besides, there's a load of clonetroopers to protect her from harm. Anakin's vision was clouded, so he did not see.
