Darth Vigrid
I'm just now fixing the problem I mentioned earlier. After I'm done I'm going to UVW map the model before I weight it, so Harukaze and I can skin it.

StarViperPilot
Very nice! Thank you for taking time to make this model we needed and older jedi in game. :D
Darth Vigrid
UVW mapping should be completed today and then I'll get right to skinning (which might take me awhile).

Darth Vigrid
I'm having some problems mapping the hair. I've tried it a few different ways and I haven't really liked how they have turned out. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I should approach the hair mapping? Here's some pictures of it: http://www.geocities.com/donahuepj/hair.html
<JOTD>Jedi Hunter
Very nice man. Tis post doesnt really have anything to do with this model but about a future project. I was thinking maybe you could model/skin the clone luke from the zahn novel the last command. Anyway it looks wonderful man. Keep it up... I creamed myself upon looking at it for the first time... lo j/k. Have a good one.

Darth Vigrid
Mapping is complete and I've sent the model to Harukaze so he can start the Jorus skin. I'll start on the Joruus skin right away. Thanks everybody for your support.

<JOTD>Jedi Hunter
Vigrid, can you post some in game shots? If not then that's cool. I look forward to seeing this in the jk2.net models section.
Darth Vigrid
Sorry, but Joruus isn't in-game yet. I still have to weight the mesh. I did a quick weighting before, but I had to scrap it because I ran in to some problems (which were later worked out).
Darth Vigrid
I've made some progress skinning the face. Early Face Skin What do you think?
adillon
DV- holy *BLEEP* ... that's looking great. i think there needs to be some blending or something at the top of his nose and around his eyelids, but i am very impressed. is he supposed to be so GRAY though? btw, i really dig how people chang their avatars to showcase their WIPs ... a little tease perhaps. i knew something momentous had happened when i saw yours was different. keep up the great work, man!! Darth Vigrid
Yeah I have some more work to do on the nose, and I haven't even touched the eyelids yet. I'm going to add color later, its alot easier to do the skin in black and white first and then add color.

Darth Vigrid
This is my first skin, so I'm no expert, but I've read a few tutorials. You can add color by creating new layers of color and messing around with the opacity and different modes.
Darth Vigrid
Harukaze is supposed to do the Jorus skin. I sent him the model but he hasn't replied. He's usually a pretty active person in these forums. Hopefully he's still around.
Def
You should make a robed version with hood and one without hood. Nice work by the way!

Darth Vigrid
The chest will probably look better once I color it. As for the alpha maps, yes I'm going to try them out. However, I know on yoda they were used to make the hair thin. And Joruus's hair is pretty thick (even the beard). Can alpha maps be used without making the hair appear real thin?
