Morthvargr
I'm sitting here at my computer at 11:00 pm, and all my family is sleeping. I hit the 'back' button to return to the coding forum, and a woman starts yelling (well, it seemed like yelling because someone had previously turned the volume way up) "I GOT YOUR ATTENTION, DIDN'T I?" I guess it was caused by this one banner ad. That really pisses me off. I mean, banner ads are one thing, but when they start making noise and almost waking people up... what a pain in the ass! Old_Ben
One of the army ads that comes up some times starts talking, but I've never seen one that screams at you
Darth Groovy
That's why I shut off the speakers at night. I mean really why do you need speakers to read a forum?
Elegy
Yes ads are getting worse and worse as time goes by. I've come accross the ones that make sound, they annoy the hell out of me. But even worse are the ones that go in and add crap to your desktop without asking. Add to your favorite places without asking. Hell I've even had certain ads change the startup page that IE goes to when you open it. These ads piss me off to no end. I have a popup killer to kind of reign them in. It's rather effective. There's always that elusive few that are popup killer-proof though.
Darth Groovy
I've read they make programs that kill the pop-ups. Are any of them any good?
Surfnshannon
ugh the worse ads are the ones that fly into your screen. Have you seen those. They block the web page and everything and you can't figure out how to close them!! The animated ones...I think I had a pizza hut pizza pop through this search site. Etc. They are getting worse and worse. People don't PAY for internet service so they can be advertised to death. I don't mind an occasional banner...but the pop ups are friggin annoying!! Zindell
This is the best anti pop-up program I have found, plus it's free unlike most of them. Proximitron

Morthvargr
I mean really why do you need speakers to read a forum? That's why I wasn't concerned with them, I wasn't expecting any noise, so I didn't touch them. Those ads that create shortcuts, add to your favorites, and change your startpage are the worst. They make me want to beat somebody with a stick. I just saw Minority Report recently, has anyone else caught that one? There's an example of disgustingly rampant advertising. There are ads with video on everything (even the back of cereal boxes) and they scan your retinas, and cutomize the ad. "Hey Mr. Smith, buy our crap!"
