they dont exactly protect against blaster fire or lightsabers

(maybe against hitting your head on a door tho):)

And they hit their head on the door cos they can't see anything through that damn helmet...it's a puzzling paradox huh?:Dlol

hmm yes

if they dont wear the helmet they increase their vision and reduce the chance of walking into things. however if they were to hit their head they would be killed instantly. However the helmets which protect against this cause them to hit their head against more things which will eventually kill them anyway.

The empire's clothing department has clearly had some difficult decisions to make about stormtrooper uniform.:)

Ah, another PLZBEUSINGCANONONLYKTHX type of person. If something is in EU, it doesn't mean that its automatically against canon. Where in the movies does it say that stormtroopers are not considered elite troops?

no need to get all pissy!

sheesh. ;)

And yes, I am a PLZBEUSINGCANONONLYKTHX person. ;)

I don't like 80 clones of the emporer, or force-eating lizards. Sorry for my opinion. ;)

You know this Stormtrooper aim/eyesight deal was an issue in the movies as well...they couldn't shoot a thing! They may have well just taken off their gear and worn uniforms, probably would kill more people...:D

If they took all their gear off theyd all look the same! Have u seen attack of the CLONES!! CLONES says it all. If we had a bunch of people that looked the same running around shootin, i dont know about u but id get freaked out! I got freaked out in AotC(attack of the clones) when I saw all those jango_fett lookin clone troopers. I hope i never see that part again! Millions of jangos! creap me OUT! i geuss thats what the stormies look like too.

Or maybe im wrong about the whole thing

I perfer those to armies of cute teddy bears and goofy gungans, but that's just me ;)

Not to get pissy or anything, but I dislike the canonist "I declare you null and void since you dared to mention EU" attitude. I am a PLZBEUSINGEUTOOKTHXBIBI person, after all ;)

"Only Imperial stormtroopers could be so precise."

By the way, I just saw part of the infamous Ewok battle from RotJ again a couple days ago. It was sooooo badly done. The stormtroopers just fell after being touched by anything Ewok-held or -thrown. As if they'd been tranquilized. Now that's some bad acting (and choreographing) there. ^.^

But in ANH and ESB, the stormtroopers were under orders to miss! Why does no one EVER catch that, when it's shoved in your face in ANH and implied in ESB?

To answer an earlier post. One reason why stormtroopers wear helmets is because they aren't considored people anymore. That's also why they are numbered. Because they are just soldiers. The empire wants them to be like robots. Mindless drones who only act when the empire tells them to. It's all part of the brain washing. But then again I could be wrong. I'd really like to know what you all think about that. :D

What happens when they rebel. Don't you think they would start shooting the empeor and stuff if they were trying to brainwashed them?

ANyway, I still say its the blaster they use that makes um inacurate. HELLO PEOPLE! It even says it in the instruction book!

whats ridiculous about that is that he says the tusken raiders are innaccurate

however several years earlier he saw them sniping 500mph pod racers from huge distances:confused:

Obi-Wan didn't watch the pod race, he was babysitting the ship while that was going on.

its cos its not really a sig

its actually a part of the message

the rules here make no sense

your arnt allowed a picture in your sig but you are allowed as many pictures in your message as you want

a sig is just something added at the bottom of your message

so i just paste my sig into my message myself and i can have what i want in it:)

First thing I thought when I saw this topic was "Well, someone's been watching Undergrads...":D

Second, accuracy and precision are not the same thing. Precision means to hit around where you're trying to hit. In ep4, it appears that the stormtroopers were trying to take out the treads on the Sandcrawler, to keep it from moving. Accuracy, is hitting the same spot, or within a certain area, over and over. There was probably a platoon of StormTroopers, all shooting at the SandCrawler, one of them is bound to hit the tread. Besides, I don't think even a Stormtrooper could miss a Sandcrawler, that things frickin' huge!

The reason for the helmets is the same reason for the armour. So that they all look the same. A huge, faceless, indeterminably different army. You kill one, one that looks EXACTLY like it takes it's place. As for the Clonetroopers versus the Stormtroopers, the CloneTrooper's often used metallic ammo, like the Imperial Repeater, because blaster weapons are "harder to aim due to the inherent instability of plasma bolts". As for the armour, the CloneTroopers have better armour than the StormTroopers. CloneTroopers armour has less mobility, and is very uncomfortable, but is strong and can actually withstand damage. StormTrooper armour was changed to make it more mobile, comfortable, but at a cost of less protection. Not like a StormTrooper or two matter anyway, Palpy boy's got plenty.

Well, most brainwashing is quite subtle. And I'm not saying that they were brainwashed. Most of them were just recruited. And if they didn't do their job, they themselves were killed or possibly a close friend or family member. The Imperials makes all types of threats to keep their army in line. Weird bunch eh? lol ;)
