00M-187
Read it! Best Starwars book ever. Lots of goodies you never know about eg Ive just started it but already some awesome stuff. Read about how Luke built his saber with instructions left in a book at Obiwans old house on tatooine A scene where Vader\Anakin is in his personal quarters and takes off his whole suit and tries to breath on his own. He is trying to meditate and heal himself with the force. Amazing Read!

Jedi_Monk
Lots of goodies you never know about First of all, I'd contend that there's nothing in the EU that you need to know about. Shadows of the Empire was pretty good for an EU novel, but really, Vader doesn't do much, and Emperor Palpatine doesn't match the same Dark Lord we see in the prequels. It was Xizor's idea to let the Rebels steal the Death Star plans, but in RotJ Palpatine says that it was his. It matches the scheming, political mastermind that is in the prequels and is one of the things that really connects the two trilogies. SotE, if we believe it, would sever that link. I, personally, don't think that's what happens between ESB and RotJ. I've always thought, since I was, like, seven, that the Emperor somehow found out that Vader was attempting to betray him in Cloud City and punished him, did something to him with the Dark Side, that turned him back into the lacky he was in RotJ. He went from "We can destroy the Emperor!" to "You underestimate the power of the Dark Side... I must obey my Master!" Shadows doesn't explore that at all, it completely ignores this perceived character regression and allows Vader to continue on the same course he was on in ESB, regardless of the "U" turn we saw in RotJ. That's one of the main things I don't like about the EU--how it squashes my imagination as to what happens between the movies and even within the movies. Boba Rhett
Ugghhhh.... You have to be kidding. SotE was almost complete trash. The only EU books even slightly worth reading are the Thrawn trilogy.
JandoFett1842
Dude! some of the NJO series is great! I like SotE. Spiler below about what i didnt like. but i hate the part when Dash Dies, he was the man! In all SotE was a great book!
Ratmjedi
Dash dies? I really liked Dash. I have only played the game but have wanted to read the book so bad. Even though I only knew of what he did in the game He grew on me. I liked him alot and it sucks that he died. Now I really have to read it. The best EU book I have read was Darksaber. I totally loved that book. Even though many people like other EU books I consider this the best EU book I have read. You guys may disagree with me but this is just my $0.
Jedi_Monk
Dash doesn't die... he enters hyperspace just in time and it's the flash of him entering hyperspace that Luke, Leia, Lando and Chewie interpret as the Outrider blowing up (though you'd think that between the four of them, they'd have seen enough explosions and hyperspace-entries to tell the difference ). Dash Rendar is in Shadows of the Empire: Evolution, the sequel to SotE, a graphic novel by Steve Perry.
