little later than promised:

Chapter 19: Exit Vector

"Where are we going?"

"Home Krkode, we're going home."

"But aren't we going to search for that Jedi?"

"Nope. I don't care what Young David offers me. I'm tired of fighting for my life. I tought about it, but I've figured I can live with dad's death afterall. I wanna settle somewhere and live in peace."

"Whatever. I think you're missing a great change to live in peace ánd luxory. Here look at this ..."

Chase Windu was listening to the whole conversation from his cabin inside the Pringled Can. He grinned. It was a good thing Redwing never discovered the voice transmitter. Redwing was asked by Young David to track a Jedi. In YD's office they never mentioned anything about the Jedi himself, it was all on a datapad. Right now Krkode and Redwing were discussing what was on the datapad. This was good stuff, Tie would be happy.

"... and that's that. This whole datapad is filled to the last byte with information and I didn't even mention all!"

"I know, I know. But I've made up my mind. I'll let it rest. You know what? I'm gonna have a bath. I quitte enjoyed the one I had at YD's. I'll take off these stinky clothes and wear the nice naboo robes from now on. Beter yet, I'll dump this clothes in outer space! Time for a new life."

A couple of minutes later the signal went dead. Chase assumed Red dropped his clothes and the transmitter with it. But he had the information he wanted and he asked permission to take off. He needed to go to Filaar. If there was anyplace he could find out where Tie was, Filaar would be the place.

---

From his office Young David saw the Red Rabbit heading for the asteroid field. Dash Rendar standing beside him.

"You took care of his ship?", asked Young David

"Yes sir," Dash answered, "We placed a small homing beacon on the hull. We can now track it across half the galaxy, any time we want. The device sends us it's position, and where it's going. If the Red Rabbit head's for hyperspace, we know where it's going before it arives there."

"Good, we'll just have to wait and see."

Not very much later another piece of junk left the docking bay.

"We sure attract rubbish, don't we Dash?"

---

"Did it work?" Redwing asked.

"Well, Chase just left YD's and he's heading for space now. I think he has no idea what's going on. I think he's too stupid to check our position. He will just assume we're gone and exit the system."

"And where should he go?"

"Well, knowing Chase he will probably be working for some guy who saved his ass too many times. Unfortunally, this guy does not know that Chase is a terrible spy."

"He's looking for the Jedi!"

"Yes, sir. At least, I think he does. Now that we gave him the information he is very eager to go to his boss, whoever that may be."

Outside the Pringled Can was warming up his hyperdrives and before Redwing knew it, it was gone.

"Can you calculate where he went?"

"No need to sir," Krkode answered with a proud grin, "Ya see, I attached a small homing beacon to his ship." Krkode flipped a switch and a data flowed across one of the screens. "Here it is, Filaar."

"Then that's where we going too. This ship is much faster than anything Chase will ever own. We'll arrive there before him in ... 7 hours I think."

Krkode guided the ship from the asteroid field and followed the course that the Pringled Can followed not so long ago. It entered hyperspace on it's way to Filaar.

---

"What do we know about Filaar?" Young David asked.

"Not much actually." Dash answered. "It's not a very interesting planet." Dash turned on a screen and all available information of Filaar showed up. It was indeed not much.

"You think a Jedi could hide there?"

"A Jedi could hide everywhere if he wants to."

"Well, keep me informed. I still have a casino to run."

Dash nodded and again went trough all the information available about Filaar.

Then what were you expecting? :D

I don't think the showdown at Filaar will be too big ... YD's isn't on his way yet :D

Well, i was expecting Redwing to pull some really dirty trick or something on Chase. And i dind't expect everyone in the story to come to Filaar. There already is a battle about to happen there.

Well, the YD from the story is nothing like me either :D. Glad you like it

Yeah, Tie's not like me at all either. Thats not really the point though, its just a story that has people names in it, really.

Hmm...now we just need Havoc to post the next chapter. He's probably been busy, either that or he has writer's block. :D

Maybe Tomorrow.

My Boss and Network Admin are on a business trip this week. So I have to do my Database Management, and Network Admin and also communicate with the other departments on base, because my boss isn't here. I'm basically doing everything! :(

But I'll try to have the next chapter up tomorrow! :p

NEW CHAPTER WOOHOO!!!!

Chapter Twenty: Fears Incarnate

Havoc shook his head, clearing the cobwebs and, unfortunately, at the same time bringing the terrible realization, “Those are the base’s alarm!”

Havoc was struggling to run while still dressing, which made for a very comical scene, but no one was laughing on this morning. As Havoc made his way for the command center he saw many young Dark Eyes sprinting for their battlestations. Some were pilots, still wrestling with their flight suits, running for the docking bay. While a few belonged to the Dark Eyes elite group of Bounty Hunters and Mercenaries, you could tell by the lack of fear in their eyes and their grim looks across their faces. Still others were part of Havoc’s own maintenance crew, no doubt, preparing for damage control. But no matter who they were or what they did, today, to Havoc, they all looked so young and innocent.

As Havoc was still digesting that thought, he literally ran into Rogue Nine, who was barking orders to the pilots around him. Havoc looked to Rogue Nine hoping he knew was going on, “Rogue, what’s going on out there?”

“Looks like we’ve got company, four fighters and a cruiser!”, Rogue managed between giving orders.

Havoc wasn’t sure if he wanted know the answer to his next question, “Are they Crimson Blades?”

Rogue stopped and turned to Havoc, looking straight into his eyes, “No”, he paused before finishing his thought, “It’s the Sith.”

So this was it? The Sith had finally found them. Havoc, unlike a lot of the Dark Eyes, realized the severity of the situation, and another realization hit Havoc, “Rogue, you still going to lead the fighters?”

Rogue smiled, sensing his friends concern, “This is what I live for, you know that. I’m right at home in the cokpit. I never feel more alive than at that moment”

Havoc nodded, knowing exactly how Rogue Nine felt, “Well, there’s no one I’d rather have leading our boys out there. Just…”, Havoc let the word linger, knowing he didn’t really have to say it, but continued anyways, “be careful.”

Rogue nodded, and turned to dash down the corridor towards the docking bay and vanishing out of the old Engineer’s sight. Havoc then finished his own trek to the command center where he was greeted by a very concerned Zero, Leon and Tie Guy.

“How long?”, Havoc asked quickly.

Zero turned to Compa, “What’s the current ETA?”

Compa quickly glanced at the instrument panel, “Two minutes, sir!”

Leon tried to put a positive spin on things “At least there’s only four fighters. We vastly outnumber them.”

Tie Guy was quick to remind the men of the seriousness, “One Sith fighter is worth at least ten of ours, and don’t forget the cruiser. Never underestimate the enemy!”

Havoc didn’t want to make the situation seem any worse, but there was something that was really bothering him, and try as he could, Tie could still see the concern on Havoc’s face, “What are you thinking, Havoc?”

Havoc was still hesitant to say what he was thinking, but finally decided it had to be said, “What if they manage to board the base? We are no match for the Sith on foot.”

Tie shuffled slightly before answering Havoc, “I guess we’ll cross that bridge when we get there.” It sounded good, but both men knew that if The Sith boarded Filaar base, then the Dark Eyes were finished.

Compa’s voice was suddenly heard, interrupting the moment of dread with more bad news, “Our fighters are engaging the Sith!”

Havoc, Leon and Zero quickly made their way to the scanner arrays and Com panel to see the battle play out over the high tech electronics and displays. While Tie Guy walked over to the Viewport to see the battle with his own eyes.

Though from the base the battle looked like little more than red and green streaks, to Tie it was the only way to watch your men fight. And as he continued to watch he saw a small fiery ball erupt in the middle of the colored streaks of light, followed quickly by another. The Com line crackled to life.

“We’ve lost two!”, It was Rogue Nine.

Another voice followed, “Man, these guys are quick! I can’t keep ‘em in my sights!”

“I’ve lost him, where’d he go!”

“Just cover your wingman!”, Rogue’s voice came again, trying to keep the squadron calm. But it was no use, many of the Dark Eyes were seized with fear, and unfortunately for them, the Sith fed off fear.

Two more Dark Eye fighters erupted into flames, almost simultaneously, under the intense barrage of fire from the Sith star fighters. Rogue Nine found himself cursing under his breath, “These guys seem to read my mind! They dodge my fire before I’ve even squeezed the trigger!”

Suddenly a Sith Fighter found itself the target of three different Dark Eye fighters and though it made a valiant effort to dodge the incoming fire, it succumbed to the sheer number of enemy blaster fire, and violently exploded sending debris into several fighters transpara-steel view ports. Several Dark Eyes cheered over the com line, but the moment of elation was short lived.

Silenthunter’s voice was heard over the com line next, “Blast it! I’m taking fire from the cruiser!”

Amidst the intense dog fighting, the Dark Eyes had failed to see the Sith Cruiser come into range and begin firing into the fray.

Several Dark Eyes found themselves dodging the cruiser’s fire only to fly straight into the firing arc of a Sith fighter.

Back at the base, Zero, Leon and Havoc were listening to the battle and watching it play out on the sensors, watching too many dots blink out and vanish from the display. When suddenly Leon noticed something on the sensors, “Where’s that Sith Fighter going?”

“Maybe he’s making a wide circle?”, Zero replied hopeful.

But Havoc’s worst fear suddenly become reality as he stared at the sensors and watched the enemy fighter make a bee line straight for the base, “No…”, Havoc looked up from the sensors and his face shown pale in the soft glow from the displays, “It’s heading straight for the base.”

“Well, surely one fighter can’t do that much damage to this base!” Zero added still remaining positive.

“He’s not coming to attack the base, he’s coming to enter the base!”

Havoc quickly turned to Tie, who was still staring out the viewport, for ideas, but Tie didn’t say anything, “Tie, did you hear me, I said he was heading right for us!”, but again nothing. Tie didn’t say a word. “Tie, why aren’t you saying anything!”.

Havoc ran over to the viewport and looked to Tie Guy, but what he wasn’t ready for what he saw. Tie was just standing there silently, his eyes closed, but his face seemed locked in battle with an unseen foe. Havoc shook Tie gently, “Tie, snap out of it!”, but there was no change.

Havoc looked to Compa, “How long until the Fighter is here?”

“Thirty, maybe forty seconds. Sir, He’s dodging our turbolaser fire like it’s child’s play!”, replied Compa anxiously.

“He’s coming for the Jedi!”, Havoc sprinted to the com panel, “Gee-Bee-Com, what’s the status on the Jedi?”

There was a pause and the droid’s voice responded over the com, “Sir, the Jedi’s status is unknown.”

“Unknown? What do you mean, unknown?”, Havoc replied, panic starting to settle in.

“Well Sir, he’s seemed to have disappeared.”, came the droid’s reply.

“What?!”, he was going to ask how that happened, but Havoc knew better then to argue with the droid. He didn’t have the time for that right now.

Leon suddenly ran for the doors yelling as he took off, “Don’t worry, I’ll find him!”

Havoc yelled after him, “Leon, wait!”, he started running after him, but realized that Tie was still incapacitated and a battle still raged on. Suddenly He found himself torn between his promise to STTCT and his responsibility to the Dark Eyes, and as Leon vanished out the doorway and the blast doors closed behind him, he heard over the com line the voices of his friends and his family:

“There’s too much enemy fire!”

“I can’t shake him!”

“I’m hit!”

He quickly turned his head to Zero for an update on the battle raging outside, but Zero only shook his head, relaying the bad news without spoken words.

Havoc, panic having set in, turned to Tie once more and started violently shaking him, yelling at the top of his lungs, “Wake up Tie! Come on you bastard! I need you right now!” but Tie remained locked into whatever mental battle he was raging and replied only with his silence and his grim face.

Havoc could only stare out the viewport at the darkness of space. His mind was racing over a million different thoughts, but not one of them pleasant, and as the cold sweat poured down his face he thought he heard Compa’s voice echoing in his ears, “The Sith Fighter has penetrated the docking bay, the Sith have entered the base. Repeat, the Sith have entered the base!”

Awesome job so far guys. Maybe we could write a little more about the Dark Eye fighter pilots? A little something that they do to really screw something up?

Don't worry, ive got about 3/4 of my chapter finish, the flyboys are in it, and with a bigger role, especially Rogue 9.

Phew, stayed up late doing it, but i think it turned out well.

Chapter 21: The Awakening

Millions of blurred images flooded through Tie’s mind, flashing past at the speed of light. Memories came rushing back, drawn up from the unknown depths of his childhood. He struggled to make sense of any of them; barely able to see them much less understand them. Through the stream one image seemed to slow as it raced by, showing two young boys standing beside each other on a landscape he couldn’t place. He did recognized the boy, however, it was he. And standing beside him was another he, the exact same size and look. But before he could even attempt to understand it the image sped off into infinity. He felt as if the world was seemingly closing in around him, as if some incredible force was drawing closer and closer, pressing him more and more. A drop of sweat dripped off his forehead as the pressure became unbearable. The uneasy feeling had returned, but it had increased threefold. It felt as if a star cruiser had been placed on top of his mind, pressing down in all directions, all around him. The alarms and clashes flashing around him meant nothing, he stood in silence, hardly able to move.

He suddenly felt an overwhelming sense of dread fill his thought, pushing out everything else. He sank to his knees, trembling. He struggled for words, but he knew his people were in danger; he had to help them. “E-evacuate…the base.” He finally stammered as loud as he could manage. Compa, standing not far away, heard his words.

“But, sir. Its only one man, even if he is a Sith.” He retorted.

“I said evacuate the base!” He shouted, filled with rage, yet despair. He wasn’t going to let the Sith pick apart his life, even if it meant facing the dark man himself. But he still had his men to worry about. Tie had seen the power of the Sith with his own eyes, and it wasn’t anything he wanted anyone to have to face.

“Y-yes, sir.” Compa said reluctantly, pressing the emergency evacuation button his console. He then spoke briefly over the com and then rose out of his, exiting the bridge along with everyone else. Tie was left standing alone in the bridge, silently standing and staring out the view port at the deadly conflict spilling out in front of him. He still saw explosions of fighters and he thought he even saw one of the two remaining Sith fighters explode. He felts a surge of hate bubble in him, showing no mercy for the fallen Sith, but he knew it was already too late.

Havoc sprinted after Leon, catching him just in time to get on the turbo lift. The lift started moving down towards the medical ward, away from Tie, away from the battle. Havoc’s conscience yelled for him to return to his friends and protect them, but he knew he also had a responsibility for Leon. “What are you doing, Leon!?” He said, catching his breath.

“Gotta find that Jedi before the Sith do, Havoc. If they catch him there’s no telling what they’ll do. I can’t just leave him, he’s still hurt.”

“But what about Tie!? What about the Dark Eyes!? They’re in danger too! Is some unknown Jedi more important to you than your friends!? I’m not gonna sit around here and watch them die!!!” Havoc screamed, exasperated.

“Havoc, you know how much they mean to me, but this Jedi is defenseless. He needs our help, Tie can take care of himself. Besides, you didn’t rescue him and bring him all this way just to abandon him to the mercy of the Sith, did you?” Leon argued.

Havoc shook his head, still swelling with anger. “But…arghh!” Havoc broke off to the sound of alarms, echoing his frustration.

“Is that the evacuation signal? Still the same, eh?” Leon said, impossibly calm, but with a slight edge to his voice.

“This is not good. We need to get back to Tie, fast. Let’s just find this Jedi and get back, he couldn’t have gone too far.” The turbolift ground to halt and the two exited into the clean white camber. They saw multiple beds, none of which we occupied. Medical supplies and equipment had been strewn across the floor, scattered by the massive blasts of the Sith cruiser. They saw an open door to the right, now blocked off by a tipped bed. They lifted the bed and ran down the hallway, searching desperately for the missing Jedi.

Rogue 9 wiped the sweat off his face, preparing for another run on the massive Sith cruiser. If he didn’t take it out, Filaar base, and his friends, would be doomed. He saw the Raven Star pulling around into flanking position on the cruiser, adding its firepower to his.

Rogue’s fighter streaked out towards the cruiser, avoiding the turbolaser blasts with honed skill, firing precise shots and scoring hits against the cruiser’s shields and hull. He saw the Raven Star pummeling the cruiser with its full complement of trubolasers, but they were still outgunned. Behind him Jediduo mimicked his leaders moves, further damaging the cruiser, but not nearly enough.

As he vectored away from the cruiser, setting up another run, he noticed Silenthunter and Kylilin engaged in fierce combat with the lone remaining Sith fighter. Despite their incredible skills, the Sith outmaneuvered them every time, striking back against them with inhuman accuracy. Rogue wasn’t sure how much more they could take.

Just as Rogue changed course for his attack, Compa’s frantic voice crackled over the com. “All ships, retreat. I repeat, all ships retreat.”

Rogue 9 paused, but he knew exactly what he had to do. “Silenthunter, Kylilin, take Jediduo and fall back, I’ll cover you.”

“But Niner, even you’re no match for them alone. That’s suicide, I’m staying with you.” Replied Silenthunter resolutely.

Rogue was touched by their devotion, but still remained firm. “No! We don’t need to see anyone else die here today. I’m your commanding officer and I am ordering you to retreat. Now, go!”

Muffled responses came over the com, but then all three fighters peeled off, fleeing the system. It was all up to him now.

The Raven Star appeared to be on the brink of destruction, its hull smoking and scarred. It started to slowly change course under the new orders, but still kept up its attack. The Sith cruiser, taking a beating, rolled itself over, giving its fully charged and armed side to the Raven Star, but leaving its battered side unprotected. That was where he needed to attack.

He changed course and fired his thrusters, looping around the mammoth cruiser and angling away from it for now to set up his run. He reached a good distance and then pulled a one hundred eighty-degree turn, placing his sights directly on the enemy’s hull. He accelerated full throttle and went in guns blazing, determined to give his friends a chance to escape. The few functional turbolasers fired at him, but he dodged them with ease, letting out a barrage of his own laser fire. His scarlet darts superheated hull plates and caused large black scars to the unprotected side of the ship, but they did not penetrate.

Suddenly the space around him was filled with energy as massive turbolaser blasts pierced the stars of all sides. Rogue braced himself for destruction, but was taken aback when the lasers passed him and melted huge holes in the cruiser in front of him. He vectored off and checked his scanners. They showed four new ships had entered the system. The first as identified as the Pringled Can, followed by the Red Rabbit. Behind them were the ships that had done the most damaged, two heavily modified bulk freighters with the distinct logo of YD’s Casino.

Caught between the surprise crossfire of the new ships and the Raven Star, the Sith cruiser seemed to be in shock, not quite knowing what to do. The five ships pummeled the cruiser, causing tremendous damage. The hulking cruiser burst into flames, signaling the ignition of its powerful generators. Escape pods jetted out of the hull as the ship was engulfed in massive flames and internal explosions. Rogue 9 pulled back just before he saw the blinding explosion illuminate the darkness of space. The burnt out hulled left by the inferno drifted harmlessly away in numerous pieces. The remaining Sith fighter veered and fled, knowing they he had been defeated but grateful to end up with his life. Rogue 9 left out a sigh of relief and set a course back to the base.

Tie Guy still stood silently as he witnessed the glorious explosion of the Sith cruiser. A glimmer of hope shone through the burden on his mind. Suddenly a cold fear gripped his soul, shilling him to the bone. The pressing on his mind felt heavier than ever, bearing down on him. But he fought through, holding on to his reaming hope even in the face of terrible fear.

He remained still as he heard the hissing sound of the blast door opening on the bridge directly behind him, fighting to conquer the overwhelming weight of dread thrust upon him.

“Tie Guy!” A familiar voice filled with anger pierced his mind. He turned slowly, not wanting to see whom the voice belonged to. There, standing still behind the door, was the hooded figure of Darth Homer, the Sith whom he had once tried to kill. Tie knew there was nothing but revenge on his twisted mind. Homer walked slowly forward, approaching Tie until he stood no more than three meters away.

Tie’s hand whipped to his holster as he pulled out his blaster, firing two shots at the evil man. Tie stood in amazement, however, as the bolts “bent” around Homer as if he had an invisible deflector shield encompassing him. The bolts hit harmlessly on the back walls. Homer laughed and extended his hand, grabbing the blaster with some invisible force and throwing it into the corner of the room.

“I haven’t gotten the chance to repay you, Tie Guy. You may have escaped me once, but now you will pay the ultimate price for opposing me!” His hand reached for his lightsaber, igniting the crimson beam and spilling the red light over his black clothes. He raised the deadly weapon above his head, preparing for a massive cleave. Tie knew there was no way to escape the Sith Lord, but at least his men had gotten away, he could die in peace. Homer, with a cry of anger brought his deadly saber down in a crushing blow. But the blade was stopped only centimeters short, caught on the shaft of a glowing green blade. Tie stumbled backwards, falling to the ground as he looked up upon the man who saved his life. It was the Jedi they had rescued.

“No!” He cried, “I won’t let you.” He was obviously weak from his injuries but he seemed to draw on some other source for power, one that gave him even more strength than the feared Sith Lord.

“Ahh! I should have killed you when I had the chance!” shouted the Dark Lord.

“Why don’t you finish me now then?” the Jedi said mockingly, releasing his saber and bringing it back up into fighting stance. The Sith took the challenge, bringing his saber up in a string of devastating blows. The Jedi expertly deflected all the foes, but he grew weaker with each one. Tie knew he could keep it up forever, that he was only stalling.

Homer faked a quick slash to the right and then brought his saber down in a crushing blow from above. The Jedi blocked the attack but was driven backwards to ground, where he landed beside Tie, his lightsaber switched off.

Homer laughed again, smiling at himself and his helpless enemies. He said nothing, but took his saber black in preparation of a deadly blow. “NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!” came a voice from the entrance of the bridge. Leon and Havoc jolted into the room, firing precise shots at the Sith. He deflected the shots easily with his lightsaber, but he was forced to break off the attack.

The fallen Jedi arose again, igniting the blade and thrusting it at the Sith. Homer, having to manage himself between the Jedi’s attacks and the incoming blaster bolts, spun his blade in a fury, whirling in all directions, moving impossibly fast. But he knew he could hold it up forever. One of Havoc’s blaster bolts managed to get through his defenses, striking him in the arm. Stretching out with the force he grabbed some loose machinery and hurled it first at Leon and Havoc, then at the Jedi. All three dove to avoid the attack, but when they got up to continue the fighting, the Sith Lord had vanished, leaving only a hole in the deck of the Filaar base bridge.

“What’s below us?” The Jedi inquired.

“Landing Bays.” Tie said solemnly, swallowing his regret at letting the Sith escape.

“Its alright.” Leon interjected, “at least everyone is ok.”

“Yes, thanks to you,” He pointed to the Jedi standing next to him, “and you guys” he said, turning to his old friends. “….thanks.”

Havoc and Leon said nothing, simply staring open mouthed at the two people standing in front of them, unable to believe what they were seeing.

“Why’d you come to help me anyways, I thought you were injured.” Tie asked quizzically.

“Tie…. you have incredible talent for the force, the Jedi need you; I need you. Besides,” Tie’s mind suddenly raced back to the image he saw earlier on the bridge, “it’s the least I could do for my twin brother.”
