Guybrush122
....I've just recently seen David Lynch's Mullholland Drive and was completely inspired. Very interesting. And it gave me an idea for an adventure. But, an adventure that is totally different in gameplay, concept, theme, and plot....and i think i can definately pull something like this off...just gotta get to designing it right away (which i have begun doing) The Concept: It's an adventure game played on a website. I know, it's been done before...but not like this. You enter the website, and you are thereby informed briefly and vaguely the concept...then the game begins. The screen is black and you hear screams, a few gunshots, abient noise getting louder and louder, feedback starts to grow untill one high, ear shattering, glass-breaking noise, and the screen fades into your first scene or clue. The game is on. You find out what the f*ck happened, who you are, where you are, where you came from, your initial agenda, who's playing who, and who IS who. Questions will arise like; what happened to all the daylight? Why did you hear screaming and gunshots right before you blanked out? Amung much much more... The Gameplay: You won't see much visuals. It will mainly be phone booths, ciity locations...etc. I'm not sure if you'll see any characters or not...its all sketchy. It might be text-based, it might be voice-based, there might be graphics or not...im not sure. All I have worked out for CERTAIN is that it all starts from one call from a phone booth. The Mood: Dark, twisted, Noir-like quality. Mellow jazz with a slight hint of an eerie drone to it...just like the city that it embodies. I just wanted to ask you guys for your honest opinion: Is it a good idea? Would you play something like this? I'm sorry im bugging all of you....it's just I'm eager to get some feedback
Deadmeat_X
Sounds cool man. You just gotta be careful: too little graphgs can make a game boring. So either put more graphs in it, or make sure that the sound never gets boring. Also, cause of the lack of graphics, the storyline must be really good. Furthermore, you should make sure that everyone playing should know that it's a serious game. You don't want ppl to expect a newgrounds-like game. Well you have my blessing. If you need some help, I'm not too good at it, but this week I got a lot of time free.
Doodle Dude of Doom
Sounds nice! Although I would create it in Flash. It have comed a new Flash program, I think it was called Flashx something. Chek out on macromedia.com, sounds like a nice idea!

He has written the script and assembled the cast, except for his leading lady. The production agency Spellbound Pictures read Lenny's script and wrote him a contract. The contract states that they'll give him the best equiptment, set builders, and props Hollywood can offer, as long as they choose his female lead. Lenny signed on the dotted line. Thats the backstory, which will be recalled from Lenny's memory throughout the course of the game. The game starts with you ready to film. But when you knock on the lead actress' trailer you get a big surprise. Before you can say 'Action' you find yourself tied up to a chair in the trailer, with a Desert Eagle .50 shoved in your mouth. Anyway, I know its sketchy, but its one of the two projects I'm doing. The website for my shtuff is coming soon.
SuicidalXWing
This game seems to have a Laura Bow type feel to it. Not sure if any of you have ever played those 2 games. Like everyone else said, strong plot for lack of graphics and so forth.
NiKo
Hah! now I like it! That's the GB122 stuff i love! I also think doing the game in Grey scale is a good idea, and will save up a lot of tiring color work
Joshi
grayscales good because it will make the game faster not having to deal with produsing new colours every five seconds (i recently bought simon the sorcerer 3d, i think it's an okay game, except for the complex graphics that they put in so every time i took a step it gave me three different camera angles before it put my behind simon again. it was slow and annoying) and i agree with SuicidalXWing and NiKo, less of the graphics, more of the plot is what we love (EFMI's main problem). i like the idea there. keep pushing at it. I knew it would appeal to you, sooner or later! yeah, im done mapping the plot out and im starting to design. im just gonna need to find some way to animate this sucker. programing shouldnt be TOO hard..but maybe im in over my head either way, ill let loose some more of the plot... ...after Lenny knocks on the lead's trailer, the star of the picture shoves a Desert Eagle .50 in his mouth. A quick blow to the neck and Lenny is rendered unconcious. You wake up unconsious and tied to a chair in the trailer. You hear voices outside...something about a car and some money. Hmmm, of all pictures to choose, Spellbound chose the one about a bank robbery.........
