Father Torque
Hey guys i have a few words to say "What is up with the metric system" its the stupidist thing ive ever heard why cant the world have one system called the Father Torque system where everything is measured by different attributes of chicken so what do you think Metric American or Father Torque
ckcsaber
The metric system cause the rest of the world uses it
Father Torque
i have to say im voting for Father Torque do you think i should have im stumped like a tree :D
Boba Rhett
The Metric system is so much better than ours it isn't even funny. But I am curious about this Father Torque measuring system and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.
Reb Starblazer
Err, hate to break it to you but the world does have one system. It's called the Metric system, otherwise known as SI, for System Internationale:D And it lives up to it's name. Except for some countries (The USA is one of them), it is almost international. So... what's up with the Imperial system then? I've always wondered, when American's learn physics in high school and College/university, they do teach you it in metric right? I figure that they do, just want to know for sure. The entire point of the SI system was to have a world wide standard after all.

gorganfloss
I like chicken. Tasty chicken especially. I like measuring systems. Put the two together and youve got the best damn idea ever.
Guest Jed
Amen to that. In American high schools, or at least in mine, physics is taught all in the metric system, even tho my country is too dumb to convert to the metric system, which is a hell of a lot better than the inches feet pounds sh!t. Altho I say that, I am quite accustomed to it...

Jah Warrior
American system? surely you mean the imperial measurement?
Father Torque
yes i mean the imperial measurement i just said american so ppl who dont know that stuff would understand:D
Dath Maximus
well father, let me guess you just got into science and started disscussing the metric system didnt you? Well its alot easier than feet and inches in chemestry class you live by the metric system, and it gets really easy he he picometer
JandoFett1842
I personaly like the American System, cuz i grew up with it, if we ever wish 2 change it will be hard, cuz all the old farts and kids like me are useta this sh!ts!
Father Torque
yep first year of biology and chemistry but my teachr is obsest with metric system and his first words were do you guys know the metric system but i do say it is a lot easier to convert stuff in metric but i hate the hectometer and the yotto gram
igor
Do you realize how much harder physics would have been if it was taught using imperial. Metric is so much easier to make calculations with.
Darth Talliusc
i use metric more then imperial for sure, but i hardly EVER use kilograms, i guess im just used to pounds, it seems more Proper to me. i dunno, inches and feet are stupid imo, long live the metric system! teutonicknight
The metric system is soo much more better than that other system. Not to mention it's soo much more easier to use, just add or delete a zero!
JandoFett1842
Im not saying its bad or anything, just we would have a hard time converting 2 it if we diceided 2, thats all!
Reb Starblazer
Yep, just as hard a time as every other country had when switching from their old system to metric. But after awhile they all got used to it, even the older people. Most older people still use the older system, but they do understand the metric system. It is pretty simple after all, it's all based on tens. For distance, 10 milimetres make a centimetre, 10 centimetres make a decimetre, 10 decimetres make a metre(or 100 centimetres make a metre), and 1000 metres make a Kilometre. As for weight, 1000 miligrams make a gram, 1000 grams make a kilogram, and 1000 kilograms make a tonne. I have a rather nasty habit of using the Imperial system for weight and height, but I use the metric system for distance(how many Km's I drive in a day, etc). It's rather confusing at times, to say the least:D
