Laptops, Portables, Notebooks, oh my!

Well, I've been in quite a dilema...

I can't play JO on my laptop cuz the graphics card sucks. I usually use my laptop, so I've been thinkin about getting a new one....

My question:

What brands of laptops do you guys use?

I've taken a few people off the list:

Compaq/HP

Gateway

I've looked at this Toshiba system...but I've had no experience, and the fact they don't make desktops makes me worry.

Opinions?

Dell....I was considering them, but I need big features in a laptop.

Only reason I looked at that Toshiba was because of the features at a low cost....but CagedCrado, the people you know with them say they suck?

Confuses me....I have a friend who has a Toshiba and says it's the best thing he's bought in a while....

More opinons are needed.

AFAIK, laptops aren't the best machines to be playing games on anyway. The LCD panels can't refresh as fast as a CRT (particularly at higher res.), and so puts a limit on your framerate, regardless of your gfx card.

I believe I read that somewhere. Or one of Rhett's elves whispered it in my ear... :eyeraise:

I agree. If you're going to be playing games, laptops aren't the way to go.

And as for the pricing... you could get someone to custom build it for you. It's much cheaper than buying a retail machine, and you get exactly what you want. I have a little side business building computers, myself. I can give you pricing information if you'd like. PM me if you're interested.
