SE_Vader_536
A long hanging question of mine: IS DARTH SIDIOUS PALPATINE??? I think he is because of many factors. 1. In episode 2 it says sidious controls the senate. what better way then to be the chancellor. 2. The reason the Trade Federation almost succeeded in their invasion. sidious stated he would make it legal. He almost did by becoming chancellor and stalling the senate. 3. How did palpatine get his sith powers? Cant be any other way than if he was sidious. Extra thoughts: he was hidden from the jedi as a result of the shroud of the dark side. he knew anikin would be the most powerful jedi ever because he can forsee the future. he used the sympathy vote of amidala to gain control of the senate by being chancellor. many of my friends cant agree on this topic and i want to settle it now. Thanx!
Crazy_dog no.3
Note they also sound the same and wear the same clothes. Also the Imperial Symbol is Republic symbol, meaning republic turned into Empire, and Jar-Jar Binks accidentely gives him emergency powers. Getting somewere? BTW this should be in off-topic. pbguy1211
not to mention vader calls him emperor palpatine in one of the original 3.
DarthMuffin
I never thought about that... It sounds obvious to me...
Admiral Vostok
I don't really think theres much of a debate. It's taken as given that they are the same. Even people who aren't Star Wars fans realise they are the same person, no questions asked. And I don't think Vader ever called him "Palpatine". The names Palpatine and Organa are never mentioned in the original trilogy.
pbguy1211
care to wager on that?
pbguy1211
and she WAS leia organa back then... cuz that's how they labelled the old "action figures" if i remember correctly... since I had them back in the day.
Admiral Vostok
Yes I would wager on that. And I'm not saying she WASN'T Leia Organa, I'm saying they never mention it in the movies. Like Ki-Adi-Mundi.
Darth Windu
Considering that Palpatine and the Emporer are played by the same actor, plus that Palpatine was the head of the Republic, and then the Empire, you can be pretty sure it's the same person. pbguy1211
Also, if I'm not mistaken... the same dude who plays Palpatine in I & II also plays the Emperor in VI! No Emperor in V, and only as a holo-whatever in IV. (or did i mix those 2 up?)
Fishflesh
only as a holo in v and not in Iv hommer in V it is not even played by IAN McDiarmid but by an old woman!

pbguy1211
but at least the one in VI resembles an older palpatine... the one in V looks nasty and just really bad... i don think it was a woman though... as previously posted.

Believe me it doesn't happen. He's correct. Neither Leia nor the Emperor are refered to by the names Organa nor Palpatine in the dialogue. They may be listed that way in the credits (I'm not sure), but no one in the movies names them as such. Kryllith
