What is "The Old Folks Home"

Does anyone know what Obi-Wan means when he says to R4 "Transmit to Coruscant care of the Old Folks Home."

 

It's about the only thing in Star Wars I don't know.

Yeah When i first heard that I checked the book, and its in their to!! My only guess is its the operation code like D-day or BlueBook.

Good question, I was wondering the exact same thing 'second' time I saw it. The first time I couldn't make out what he said properly. I hope someone knows the answer!

Well, two things occur to me... the first is that Obi-Wan's message was beamed directly to Yoda's quarters in the Jedi Temple, so "old folk's home" might be an endearing little jab at the 874-year-old Jedi Master Then again, "care of the old-folk's home" could mean that Obi-Wan is using the Jedi Council's secure carrier signal, since the Jedi Council is made up of the senior Jedi Masters.

 

I'm thinking it's probably the latter

It is a kind of "morse code". By using references only to those of applied knowledge, anyone listening in would be none the wiser. Thats why Americans used Native Americans to communicate messages. The germans and Japs couldn't decifer their native language.

Jedi Monk........once again, simply amazing. I thought he was trying to talk with the council also.........it is a codename.

Think Jedi Master. Usually, the Jedi Masters are old, explaining "The Old folks home." Anyway, it was directly transmitted to where Jedi master Yoda was meditating. Just a guess.
