I can't find it anywhere....there are many versions out there, some slightly changed, others majorly. Does anyone know where I can find the first version he printed??

Agen Posted January 13, 2003 Posted January 13, 2003 well i'm sure mine is the very original of it's kind and was boughto ut of a book store in 1976. i saw the exact same version 4 years ago though.

I've got a friend whose mother owns the 1st editions... not that it helps you any, but then again, she got them new. I've read them, and there's nothing different that I can tell. The maps look a little different, but that's because I think they were redrawn in the 1970's.
BCanr2d2 Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 I think the first versions are dated closer to 1955, or that era. I think by 1970, he had done more work, and revised it, in main the appendices to fix up his continued work on the history of Middle Earth....
