I dont like Star Wars any more!

Again, Aru-Wen took the words right out of my mouth. I'd also like to point out the terror that is Luke telling Leia that he is her sister.

"...my sister has it... you, Leia..."

"Yes, I know... somehow, I've always known."

Is it just me, or is Leia's line just... disturbing, considering she's frenched him a couple times :eyeraise:

LOTR is a much better storyline with a more believable tale.

The Prequels are, at their heart, a great dystopia, the story of how a flawed but just Republic came under the control of a tyrannical dictator, and how the noble Jedi Knights were the victims of a senseless holocaust. The Prequels carry the warnings of Brave New World and 1984, and the lessons of the second world was, to the new generation. We take our freedoms for granted--at least here in the States, and people need to wake up to the fact that we can lose those freedoms if we stop caring about democracy.

So band with me when I say 'I HATE the prequels, but long live EU!'

Excuse me for a second... :barf:

Or not....................

I love the prequels, i love all of star wars....and the movies destroy the EU. EU is good enough to interest me, but it will NEVER...EVER surpass the movies in the coolness of it.

And I am also curious like the rest.......what continuity errors have been made in the prequels?

You couldn't be more right, Aru-Wen. And you can tell that Dooku's getting desperate near the end of the battle--he's off-balance, and has no idea where Yoda's going to turn up next. "Fought well, you have, my old Padawan," notice the past-tense; Yoda was about to finish it, Dooku knew it so he ran.

Okay. I watched the scene again very closely just now from my comp.

* Dooku seems a little bit surprised by the fact that he can't "force-whore" Yoda.

* The fight is even. In the end Yoda starts jumping on walls for some reason. Seems he is trying to get away from Dooku's saber. During the fight neither of them get the upper hand. No facial expression, nothing.

Then we have the saber lock. Yoda says his line which might imply that he could beat Dooku.

But we get nothing. Dooku might be thinking: "Enough. Let's end this charade. I got better things to do than mess around with this green midget."

That is why I call it an ANTICLIMAX.

It could have been so much more. All we got are assumptions.."perhaps Yoda was better...maybe Dooku would have been beaten..or not?"

Remember the fight between Luke and Vader? Or Maul? You could easily tell that at certain moments they were in trouble.

Dooku wasn't, ever. He had everything under control. It was cool, but not the way the "final battle" should be. I was disappointed. I wanted more. I wanted to see Yoda's superiority. Blocking lightning was not enough. :(

Look at Dooku's face right before the last saberlock; his eyes are wide, his lips are compressed--he's fighting to the best of his abilities and he can't beat Yoda, he's losing confidence. Look at Dooku's body-language while Yoda's fighting circles around him--he can't keep track of where Yoda is or has been, he's obviously off-balance and desperate.

You might be seeing what you want/expect to see...?

What I'm saying is: If someone non-biased would look at the fight without all these assumptions (Yoda is the best!) we naturally have, he'd probably interpret it differently.

I don't want things to be Too Obvious, though.. but this fight did not live up to its expectations.

Take the first fight between Qui-Gon and Maul: It was clear that Maul was stronger. Q-G was all sweaty and out of breath. I doubt it would have been too hard for GL to make Dooku show similar "symptoms" or lose his saber, fall down, get pushed or...

Oh well, this is the way GL wanted it. :(

Hmm... still no posts on that continuity comment that many people were making. It seems to me that since there is reluctance to name these mistakes of continuity that there, in fact, are no such mistakes. Unless someone can prove me wrong, that is. Debate is more than welcome.

Another problem of course faced by the Yoda duel as opposed to all the other duels. is that Yoda wasn't there when they filmed it. Christopher Lee and his stunt double were dueling the air. It's a little more difficult methinks to pretend to be getting beaten by nothing.

that is so true.

Ok I gave it another try, AOTC I was ready to watch it again, OMG I had to turn it off about 1\4 an hour through. The dialogue is so annoying, I cant stand it. From now on if I ever try and watch this movie again im going to start it at the Coruscant chase scene...

I will always love ESB and ROTJ, even ANH, but man, I cant bare to watch the new trilogy, its sooooooooooo annoying, mostly AOTC, TPM isnt so bad...

I really hope that EP3 is good... It could save the whole saga,

What in the name of Zeus makes you think that the dialogue in the Original Trilogy was any good?

"May the force be with you!" - corny as ever. Guiness was so ashamed of these lines he had to deliver, he actually thought they practically ruined his career.

Have you seen AOTC??? WTF,The old trilogy was way better, the dialogue in AOTC is so bad I can't even watch it... And I was one one the most hard core devoted starwars fans. Even Sam Jackson, one of the best actors ever comes off as an amateur becuase of the dialogue... Especially in the opening scene in Palpatine's office...

I dont mean corny, I mean bad. Its sooo bad, like a 7th grade junior high play bad.

Typically I never agree with critics, actually I hate them, and I dont ever critique movies like this, but Star Wars being one of my all time favorites, I had to say something. And I see many agree with me.

I think the dialog in the Prequels is just fine. Star Wars makes great use of silly sounding lines. Think about some of Vaders lines...."If you only knew the power of the dark side" If anyone BUT James Earl Jones said that line it would have been nearly rediculous...or perhaps "Join me and together we can rule the galaxy as father and son."

This all goes back to my "rose colored glasses" theory. Most people were younger when they first saw the movies, and now hold them up on a pedestal so high that you can't compare any movie to them. Some people just can't see that the same bad dialogue that are in the prequels were also in the OT.

I can't agree. Both Lord of the Rings and Star Wars are attempts at myth-building, and they both follow the Quest formula. The hero is living in peaceful isolation (Tatooine, the Shire), finds a mentor who innitiates the quest (Obi-Wan, Gandalf), an amulet (Father's Lightsaber/the Force, the One Ring), and gains companions (Han/Chewie/Leia, the Fellowship of Nine), etc. Star Wars, at least the movies, has much more in common with fantasy than sci-fi. The sci-fi element is merely the setting, a way to tell an old story in a new way.

Umm - on the whole dialogue thing - yeah - it is sucky in the prquels, but when you think of it, some of the OT trilogy stuff is daft, but daft, not sucky.

Plus, the actors could deliver the lines in OT. In the PT, they stumble on every word. And from what I hear of their acting history, I think it is because the dialogue was so sucky, that they knew NO-ONE was gonna rescue it!
