I was after him for months to send me back the stuff, so I could put it on my own server, but he just ignored me. Unfortunately, it's probably gone forever

Should have thought about that. He's rear echelon, so there's actually a chance he's still in Germany. He spent a month in the Ukraine a few months back. Sounded neat. From what limited information I can get directly from the military, most of the guys going to the Gulf are either based in the US or had just gotten back from there. They don't seem to be shifting people around a lot that are already overseas. They've already called up the reserves. It was kinda unsettling to start up the new semester and see people missing and know why they weren't there.
Gold leader Posted January 19, 2003 Posted January 19, 2003 A few days ago I learned that the 5th army corps was leaving Germany for the Gulf. 40,000 men and a whole bunch of equipment are right now heading to the ports of Antwerpen and Rotterdam to be boarded. But things like this are going on for months now, on a smaller scale though. My girlfriend's mother has a friend working at the NATO Logistics HQ (for Western Europe. It's situated in my insignificant hometown, to my disbelief) who told her this. What scares me the most is that you know that some of the people you're missing now might never return...

I only know one or two people that are likely to actually see combat but that doesn't make a difference really. Back in 1991, one of the reserve units from my area got sent over. They were a water purification group that was in Riyadh. Blam-o! Scud missile hits their mess hall and kills a bunch of them. One of the guys missing from school is a Marine (don't know what he does) and the other was Naval reserve (he was intelligence). It certainly wouldn't surprise me if Rune wound up in the Gulf. A while ago he said something about maybe being routinely moved to Kuwait or something before the recent build-up started.
