LiMP RABBiT
Im a tad confused, and have been since I saw ep I. In A New Hope, Obi is talking to Luke and he says something like, "I thought I could train Vader like Yoda trained me". Well, the important part is that he says Yoda trained him. In ep I however, we discover he was trained by Qui-gon. HA, wangle your way outta that one George.
Rogue15
When a padawan reaches age 12, they get assigned to a Jedi Knight, I think, before that, Yoda trains them.
Andy867
Actually, he was trained by Yoda, but at a very young age. If you remember in Episode 2, we see Yoda training many young ones. And it was confirmed that at a young age, Yoda will be the Master of like a classroom of padawans, and once they reach a certain age, they get their own personal Master. And that's when Obi-wan became Qui-gons Padawan. So it wasn't a mistake.
Havoc Stryphe
Rogue 15 is correct. I'll just expound on that. You also see in Episode 2, Yoda teaching the jedi "younglings" when Obiwan approaches Yoda for advice about the missing Kamino in the Jedi star charts. All younglings are taught by Yoda until they turn twelve or thirteen, when they are chosen by Jedi Masters or kinghts as a padawan. Since Anakin was never trained period, in the ways of the force. Obiwan was going to be filling in for Yoda in the basics as well as train Anakin as a padawan too. So Obiwan was correct in what he said (from a certain point of view ) He thought he could teach the basics and importance of the force and the Jedi code. You can see he sucessfully trained Anakin as a Jedi knight. His skills were excellent. It was his force basics, his Jedi ethics, his attitude that Obiwan failed to teach and instill in young Skywalker.
Rogue15
where'd you get that sweet-looking avatar it looks like anakin turned darth vader! It's kinda cool how Luke Skywalker was trained at an even OLDER age than his father, but was able to remain on the Light side. That's why Luke Skywalker could wipe the floor with any Jedi after Return of the Jedi.

Andy867
I took the two with anakin's face has the breather near his mouth, and used the grey background from the one to help better show anakins face in the other, hence my avatar.
Jedi_Monk
Actually, Lucas said the age is about 8 or 9; 13 is EU. So Anakin was the right age to become a Padawan, and should have just been finishing Yoda's training as a Youngling.
Andy867
What's strange is that Mace at first said that Anakin was too old for the Council to train him. Which wasn't the real reason though. Because we all know that Yoda sensed much fear in little Ani. And fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate. HATE... leads to suffering.
Echuu Shen-Jon
I have read all of the posts, and it looks like, that many have the ame point of view, as I have! Also, take a look at this!

Purple_Tentacle
i watched Empire Strikes Back today, and when yoda was debating wether or not to train luke Yoda and Obiwan discuss how Obi had "much hate in him" when yoda trained him. so this leads me to believe that after ep.1 when obi wan was a jedi knight he turned to Yoda for advice and guidence, and thus delt with his anger. this, in my opinion, is what obi-wan ment when saying that yoda trained him. i doubt obi-wan had all that much hate in him as a 9 year old.
