Binni Aldi Posted January 29, 2003 Posted January 29, 2003 I was wondering how a Jedi that will remain on the light side fall in love with anybody without falling to the darkside. It would certainly stink if you fell to the dark side just cause you met Bastila!
Com Raven Posted January 29, 2003 Posted January 29, 2003 there is no rule that falling in love sends you to the dark side... Otherwise, I'd be a Sith Lord
Taos Posted January 29, 2003 Posted January 29, 2003 Welcome to StarWarsKnights.com. Enjoy your time here....any questions, just ask one of us mods and we'll be happy to help. Aerothorn Posted January 29, 2003 Posted January 29, 2003 No, but a Jedi IS restricted from attachment, which love is by default, so a good Jedi isn't supposed to get involved.
Katarn07 Posted January 29, 2003 Posted January 29, 2003 This is at the time of the Sith. That rule may have been established later, as a result of so many following their lovers to the Dark or just away from the Order...
Com Raven Posted January 29, 2003 Posted January 29, 2003 Well, in the NJO, just about everybody is in love, so I think that rule isn't all that important
Taos Posted January 29, 2003 Posted January 29, 2003 Since this game has nothing to do with cannon, anything is possible.
Enjoi9187 Posted January 29, 2003 Posted January 29, 2003 Yep, I think that Jedi should be able to fall in love to produce super powerfull FORCE BABIES!!!!
FunClown Posted January 30, 2003 Posted January 30, 2003 there is no rule that falling in love sends you to the dark side... Otherwise, I'd be a Sith Lord Run Everybody! The dark side has clouded his mind. Doesn't worry me if there's romance. Oops, I meant join me and together we can rule the galaxy!
Burrie Posted January 30, 2003 Posted January 30, 2003 Several of the 'Tales of the Jedi' comics(which take place a few dozen years before KotR, I believe) also shows many Jedi having a romantic interest in each other... the only time that we've seen the 'don't-fall-in-love' rule was in the TPM-AotC years.
leXX Posted January 30, 2003 Posted January 30, 2003 Makes everything more believable if there is romance in a storyline.
Swat Posted January 30, 2003 Posted January 30, 2003 well love is not a bad thing, so it's not wif the dark side
FunClown Posted January 30, 2003 Posted January 30, 2003 Yeah, I thought it was the dark side that was consumed by hate which leads to suffering *in my best yoda voice*
Burrie Posted January 30, 2003 Posted January 30, 2003 And even though it's love of a totally different kind, it was the love for his son that made Anakin chose to finally turn against the Emperor.
Hannibal Posted January 30, 2003 Posted January 30, 2003 It also adds a cool dramatic twist to the game. Imagine if Bastila dies and your character goes all Anakin Skywalker on the galaxy. Doesn't that sound like fun?
Taos Posted January 30, 2003 Posted January 30, 2003 Indeed, a little romance always adds a twist on things......
Anakin1607 Posted January 31, 2003 Posted January 31, 2003 Just to interject, canon isn't even an issue here, all LFL products work together so that's great. Remember guys, Luke reformed the Jedi AFTER the Jedi were obliterated, the Emperor didn't exactly leave that much information about Jedi training techniques lying around for kids to pick up , and the whole "love" issue is discussed in depth (with references to the prequels) in the comic "union" Jedi before the Russan reformation were indeed allowed to fall in love. Look at Ulic and Naomi Sunrider. So does that help clear up why it's not bad if you fall in love in KOTOR? Now the ACTIONS you take to achieve that love, MAY take you to the darkside. I hope that helps.

But have the Jedi been sworn to complete sexual repression? Then they truely are powerful!!
Taos Posted February 3, 2003 Posted February 3, 2003 They would be a bunch of idiots....... How can you miss out on something like that?
Hannibal Posted February 3, 2003 Posted February 3, 2003 I could see the scandal. Of a Jedi getting involved with his young female padawan. So they better be allowed to love. So they stay away from the younglings.
Binni Aldi Posted February 4, 2003 Author Posted February 4, 2003 I like the idea of force babies! Just think about it... little munchkins force pushing and pulling all over the playground. The real answer to crime in youngsters is force babies!
Hannibal Posted February 4, 2003 Posted February 4, 2003 Originally posted by Com Raven Lol, you perv Would a perv have an avatar like this? Oooohh look at her. :drools all over himself: Umm, what where am I. Why am I sitting at a computer. Back to topic: If it's Star Wars there's gonna be love and friendship and pain and death, etc. Just like the movies and just like the books. It would by dry and dull without it. Think of SW without the music. It's not the same. All the parts of SW are what made it great.
