Guyver or Neo Genesis Evangelion?

My mate and I are Manga fans (he got me into it), but I hjave yet to actually get any DVDs (Manga DVDs see a better choice for the extras - Akira was a good one for that.)

I have looked into Guyver, and liked it, the bio-tech reminding me of the NJO Vong.

Dan reckons I should look at getting NGE instead, as its similar, but supposidly better.

I know Guyver is going DVD (But not herein EU yet I note.... ), but NGE is available now. Inparticular, Death and Rebirth (Is it the 1st part or 2nd part of the end of the series?)

Help ickle me....

[EDIT] Just looked into Virus - Virus Buster Serge.... Any good anyone? [/EDIT]

Sorry to bump dear Swampies, but I need some ore of the Swampie know-how!

I now own Guyver Datas 1-12, onlt to find out that there is MUCH more story beyoind it (DAMN - NEED MORE! Are there more on VHS, or was that it - 12 eps?)

Now I am going after Neon Genesis Evangelion. My local Game has Death & Rebirth in for £9.99 (£10 less than everywhere lese - bet they have no idea what it is worth! :) ) and End of Evangelion for £19.99. Saves me a tener... BUT.....

Should I try and see some of the series first? I have read many reviews, and many of them say that you really need to be up on you NGE to know whats going on. But there are SO many DVDs of it, and I know that once i start collecting them, thats it, I'll have to get them all! (see my recent fascination with original Transformers for an example....)

Could I get by on the two movies for now, or should start off with the series?
