Katarn07
Talking on AIM to someone and said I had been watching Band of Brothers. They didn't know what it was, and I was like... Well, veterans are taken for granted it seems (I wrote a 5 page essay on how they can be and how I learned of what they did), and I'm making this thread so all of you users here go and see this 10-hour HBO mini-series telling the tale of the 101st Airborne, Easy Company, through their training with a maniac, D-Day all the way to the end of the war. I know you can get it at Blockbuster (video rental store here in the US), each tape seperately... You can get it on VHS or DVD off Amazon as well. It is unrated, but deserves an R rating for practically 10 hours of graphic war violence, strong language (alot more than in Saving Private Ryan) brief nudity, and a brief scene of sexual content. If you have seen it, post how great it is (or if you disagree with me, how bad it is)...
ImmolatedYoda
i havent seen it, even though i want to, sounds interesting. ive seen SPR though, is it anything like that?
munik
Yeah, it's a great series. I've seen most of the episodes. But the reason people might not have heard of it is because it's an HBO series. Not everyone subscribes to HBO. It is sort of like saving private ryan, with the cinematography and such. Shakey camera shots, first person shots, things such as that. The whole dreary thing is conveyed as well, but this is much more then just the French countryside shown in spr. There's the drop into france on d-day, operation market garden in holland, the battle of the bulge in belgium, and the push into germany. Lots of different locations. It is a great series, I would recommend it.

Katarn07
It is done like SPR, yes. Tom Hanks directs one of the episodes, and Speilberg and he produce the whole thing. Based on a true story... It is great. Such things included are- Their training D-Day Market Garden Battle of the Bulge Few other things in there that many people know from WWII... Ratmjedi
You just saw my Image Sig and my Avatar huh? Well it's cool that you guys know a little about Easy Company of the 506th 101st Paratroopers Regiment. I am a war movie kind of guy and I know all about them and WWII. I just finished watching the series about 2 weeks ago. It was great and I think that it did all the boys of Easy Company a great justice. It is very realistic and is one of the best War series ever made and deserves to compete with movies. You guys also missed a few places that they fought at. The series starts at Camp Toccoa with there training. They then went to Aldbourne England and waited there untill they got there orders. Then after that they parachuted over Normandy on June 6. They then later took part in Operation Market Garden in Holland and to take out the German forces there. They then went to Belgium and fought at Bastogne which was what they all say as the worst part of WWII. Then after fighting at Bastogne they went to France. They then started advancing untill they were in Germany and were the first to make it to Hitler's Eagle nest which was up in the Bavarian mountains. i don't know if you guys knew this but Major Winters is being nominated but the 506th because he was only given a Silver Star for his heroic acts in Normandy as a 1st Lieutenant. They were only allowed to give a Medal of Honor to 1 person in the Division and it was already given out so they had to give him a Silver Star. They are currently trying to give him on and are writing letters to Congress. I think that it is cool that people like them are still being remembered even after so long. Currahee!!!!!! StormHammer
Yes, it was compelling and rivetting viewing, and brought home the true horrors of war. A very good series...though I didn't see all of the episodes.
Nitro
Nothing quite compares to the shelling outside Foy on a 56" tv with a 1200 watt dts surround... (200 of that is the sub). You can ****ING FEEL the shells. It's really quite humbling when you're cringing, and then you stop and think that it's still nothing compared to what they went though...
