Mod question

Recommended Posts

The whole status thing is a newly added feature to LF, some mods like Raven of Aresen don't have the moderator status thingy but Raven is a mod. It's just a thing there to notify who's a mod and who's an average schmo :p ...

The difference between super mods and mods?

Super Mods have the power to moderate all the forums in LF, they also have the power to ban people...

Mods, well mods can only moderate a forum which they are assigned to. For example Cmdr. Cracken can only moderate the forums in RogueSquadron.Net... most regular mods don't have the power to ban but i've heard there are one or two exceptions

...yeah i am just a regular member... i'll shut up now and let someone qualified answer x.x *walks out grumbling*

The "Moderator" status is usually (I say usually because there really isn't a concrete policy) given to moderators who are not part of another user class. For example, the Mods of the GFN forums do not have the Moderator status, because I set them (as well as some other non-mods) in their own class, "GF Network Staff", which enables these members to access a specific set of private forums on Mixnmojo and the GF Network forums.

If they had "Moderator" status, these forums would be invisible to them. There are a number of classes on LucasForums that aren't displayed in the status area. These classes usually revolve around a specific site that a person might work for, and can include mods and non-mods. I don't put people in the Moderator class when I set up forums, because the ones that I tend to manage are more site-specific, and require their own private forum and special permissions on LF. I guess that the Moderator class works best for people who mod several sections on Lucasforums, but where there isn't a private forum for the moderators specifically set up for those places (or if the Admin for that area enjoys editing user permissions individually to give people the necessary access. the masochist!). Does this make any sense?

Anyway, Shutt, if you want to be part of the Moderator class I can add you, since it wouldn't really have any effect on your current permissions. However, I feel that your ego is already dangerously elevated, and the public display of your status might raise it to catastrophic levels. ;P

Thanks, but this was just empty curiosity.

That's probably a good call.
