Sivy
at least there's some good stuff inbetween to look forward to, like JK3, KOTOR, Matrix 2 & 3, the matrix game, X-men 2, LOTR:ROTK and many other games, movies and stuff. it only seems like yesterday i saw TPM for the first time and thought 'oh man Ep II is years away' as they say.. tempus fungit, or something like that
BCanr2d2
As for the DVD's, it may be some kind of interim release from Fox, authorised by Lucasfilm, as from what I have been told in other forums, it is the Laserfilm version that has been placed onto the DVD. Perhaps no different to the VCD copies, but allowing for extra quality in the transfer.... It all depends on how GL wants to hype it.... The expected release for the Episode 3 DVD will be close to Xmas 2005, if the trend from AOTC is used. I don't expect the Original Trilogy DVD's to "ruin" this at all, it wouldn't make sense for fans to buy both sets in the run to Christmas..... That means a probable earliest release date of some time in 2006, but that is also dependent on how much work has been done on the DVD's whilst ILM and Skywalker sound are working on the new movies. It also depends on how much work needs to be done to put them onto DVD, without showing too much of a difference in new and old footage. The method used heavily in LOTR, Digital Grading - digital adjustment of colour so it is uniform, and also the colour desired, will no doubt be applied to the movies to give them some kind of consistency of look. Plus any footage that they decide need to be added into the originals to help create some fluency between the two trilogies. So, it may actually be alot of work, which could take over 2 years to get done. My personal opinion is that a release date of October 2007 to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the release of Star Wars in the cinema. Also it might depend if the DVD2 standard is in use by then as well, as this may allow for a whole new level of quality on a DVD....
