Guest Das Mole
hey, i got bored so i thought of something just now. every week i'm gonna post a question that has something to somewhat do with life. maybe this'll last a while, i dunno. i had something better, but i completely forgot it! aargh! so the first weekly senseless topic will be... are any of these the same: tomato sauce, tomato paste, ketchup. i don't think any of them are the same, judging from consistency and what you put them on. ketchup-hot dog tomato sauce-pizza tomato paste- something? Gabez
It's all a conspiracy. They brought out a limited edition ketchup that was green once. GREEN!

Joshi
i always tend to put ketchup on my hot dog, but if it says tomato sauce on the cover, i'll put that on too because i always thought it was the same (taste, texture, consistency, al the same to me) and i put tomato puree on pizza which is the same as tomato paste in my opinion. Guest Das Mole
well, here's what i really think. ketchup is more of a liquidy texture than sauce or paste. i think paste is completely different than the other two, my mom uses it for those little pizzas on english muffins, which are really good. tomato sauce is different than ketchup though, since you put it on pizza and pasta. the way you can tell is that if you said you put ketchup on your pizza, it doesn't really sound right, but if you say tomato sauce, it sounds correct. plus, tomato sauce actually has herbs and spices in it i think. and tomato paste is more of a dry, not too liquidy nor saucy kind of consistency/texture. and purple and green ketchup. tsk, tsk, tsk. i think that idea is so stupid, and i've actually seen those on shelves, like at jewel and stuff. it's really nasty. Al-back from the BigWhoop
i think paste and sauce can be easily homemade, and ketchup cant. also, paste is more concentrated (thats y its the tomato sauce they use in pizza), which for that reason i like only ketchup and sauce. Originally posted by Neil Joshi i always tend to put ketchup on my hot dog, but if it says tomato sauce on the cover, i'll put that on too because i always thought it was the same (taste, texture, consistency, al, the same to me) i didnt know i was part of the ketchup and the tomato sauce, but if u say so...
