J.K Luke
Ok, topic says it all Personally, I would like to see game graphic to be CGI-like graphic similar to Final Fantasy:The Spirits Within quality. What do you guys think?
waffleman
Quote Final Fantasy:The Beast Within Nudge nudge* Its spirits within. I dont think anyone will wish for anything less than the best in ten years. But thinking how much we have come in ten years from super nintendo I believe we wil far surpass CG quality of today in the future. Look at the difference between the Super Mario of 91' to the Sunshine Mario today. Back then, people thought that something like that was impossible. setsuko
Photorealistic graphics will propably exist within 10-15 year. I think that will be a good point for the gaming industry, because after that, the graphics competition is more or less over. You can't sell by having the most polygons anymore. And that, ladies and gentlemen, means that design and gameplay can take a more important role. The bad side with this means that games will be more expensive to produce than we can imagine. So expect a lot less gaming companies out there.
DirtyWombat
I agree with Setsuko... Look at the games we grew to love 5, 10 years ago, and compare them to what we have now... In time, graphics went up, but gameplay went down... Once the realism caps, developers will have no choice but to focus on content again, 'cause that's where the games of yesterday exceed alot of what we see today... It will be a good change in my opinion... Wombat
Evad
In 10 years I'm sure the graphics will be amazing, and most games will probably surpass the quality of Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. However, if the games get any more realistic than that, it's almost going to be creepy. It would weird me out to be playing a game where the main character looks as real as I do, but then again, I still play Ghosts and Goblins, BattleToads and Mega Man on Nes... I'm thinking though in 10 years time it would be really cool if they had some kind of breakthrough with VR. That way you could be in the game as you, and the ultra-futurisitc scary "Am I seeing real life or am I seeing CGI" graphics would work together and mesh well. J.K Luke
Quote Waffleman: Nudge nudge* Its spirits within. (*slaps forehead) doh! what was I thinking, thanks Waffleman In 10 years time, I reckon we would be able to own super computer like PC, which I believe could handle graphic similar to FF Spirits within. As for game gets more expensive, it might be true, however, it might be relatively similar to current price as many devs would have more or less similar technologies and knowledge to compete one another to produce games. Did it happen? No. VR is further down the road. Especially since a) all attempts to create a VR rig has made people feel nausia, headaches and given you sore eyes within half an hour, and b) you look really silly with that helmet on you! J.K Luke
they will come a time where VR might be popular choice for gaming, it has one advantage in which, it gives user more interactiveness with the gaming world.

RocketPack Jack
As bad as the graphics may be, gotta love Mario 1 on the NES. My friend and i completed it about 20 times in a day and never got bored. Having square eyes ruled! I can definitely see photorealistic computer games coming out soon, maybe sooner than 10-15 years?
J.K Luke
I just wonder if there ever a time where another company would be able to challenge NVIDIA and ATI in making vid card. I just think that the two companies need more competitors to bring the market down(in terms of price) and hopefully create better tech

DirtyWombat
I want it immersing! VR seems to be the next plane of evolution, but it seems like many of the toptechs in that field are spinning wheels on how to go about it... Suits are to restrictive... Headsets are foreign and disorienting... And projection hasn't really grown up... Perhaps VR will come to fruition... But it probably won't be 10 years...
