Lord_Vessen
¿?¿?¿?¿?¿?¿?¿?¿?¿? Well I can't even begin to tell you how cool this game will be, also FFXI is going to suck because no PvP, or at least that's what I heard.

Cadam11
If you have seen any of the Star War movies or read any of the books you should know why everyone wants to play it. Its the point that you can actually be a character in a World that you've always wanted to be in, there is tons of other reasons people will post in here. waffleman
THis will officially be my largest post ever. Why you ask, well it may be that the insane amount of character customization ranging from hair length to gut size to color of skin on some aliens. Ok, maybe not everyone will buy it for just that reason. Its star wars go figure. It is massive, I think the number of planets is close to eight now (correct me if im wrong please) All having different flora and fauna. A huge aray of skills, ranging from animal tamer, to cantina owner, and the ever popular bounty hunter/smuggler. Lots of player vs player action and interaction, you can form factions and promote fire and hire anyone you want! THis is only the tip of the ice berg, you will eventually be able to travel into space and go battleing player on player, you can own your own store, craft droids, weapons, armor and potions. And people will buy your stufF if it is resonably priced. Compitition with other crafters will be fun. So you can see that this is no ordinary game. TheMaestro
I just love it cause it is Star Wars...anything and everything you can imagine. Tie Fighters, X-Wings, everything. Jedi, smugglers, bounty hunters the options are limitless. I wanna see a Jedi slay ten enemies, I wanna see Vader chomp down on Jedi a$$, and smuggle spice. Just, oooooooo so very much to do! sexxxy_mark
actually, i am torn between galaxies and world of warcraft. i have checked both out at e3, both being mucho impressivo. but i was a star wars fan first...and galaxies is already in beta =P damn WoW alpha biatches ps - no emoticon for sarcasm? that lifting the NDA thing was obviously a joke...but i could see how ppl could take info on these forums as fact...but c'mon that lifting the NDA stuff was from a guy using the alias "sexxxy_mark" haha
setsuko
Hmm... I'm not SOE's marketing guys, so I don't have to convince you to play. However, during the time I've followed this game, I have been convinced that it is at least worth a try. Also, don't expect someone to be able to answer a poorly made question. Why should you play the game? We don't know, since we don't know you, and thereby, don't know what you like. If you like advanced character customization (I know I do!), then SWG has it in spades. Do you crave constant and neverending PvP? Then it's perhaps not the best choise. Are you into complicated and intricate crafting? Then SWG seems to have it. Are you into flinging fireballs across the battlefield while an elven rogue watches your back? Then this is not your cup of tea. See what I mean? Every MMORPG has it's niche. It's all down to whether you like the niche or not, not whether the game is perfect for everyone or not.
Jan Gaarni
It is massive, I think the number of planets is close to eight now There are 10 planets/moons now. Each is 15x15 km (actual playing area), 225 sq km large, totalling to 2250 sq km for all 10 planets/moons. To compare, 1 planet/moon will be roughly 3 times the size of Manhatten Island (thanks to Mark for clearing that up for me). ps - no emoticon for sarcasm? that lifting the NDA thing was obviously a joke...but i could see how ppl could take info on these forums as fact...but c'mon that lifting the NDA stuff was from a guy using the alias "sexxxy_mark" haha Yes there is. And here it is: Pretty much implies that you're kidding or are being sarcastic. There's also the if you want to be alittle more harsh with your sarcasme. -=ReApEr=-
Apart from the Star wars, the Graphics and the gameplay. There will also be the commitment of PA's, working together. Fighting, defending one another. Which in my opinion, is a truely magnificent site.

Krymelord
Krystic, Will I truly experience this game to its fullest within 4-5 months? No, the Space expansion is slated for 6 month after release, plus added content. Let alone I doubt you will be able to experience everything as is in 4-5 months. It all comes down to whether or not you are a Star Wars fan or not. If it is Magic you are looking for, WoW is supposed to have a badass spell system, including several characters casting joint spells. Like Sexxxy_mark, I might be splitting time with that game in the future. Still IT IS FREAKING STAR WARS dude!

J.K Luke
there are upcoming MMORPG that I feel would attract me to (Matrix Online, Mythica), however, it's too early to say it know as they're still early in the development phase, so currently it's all SWG
setsuko
There is no MMORPG where you can enjoy it thoroughly after 4-6 months. Does EQ not get updated all the time? DAoC? AO? AC2? Yup, all of them. MMORPGs are by default a project that evolves as long as it is online.

Lord_Vessen
We should all apreciate Set's wisdom this was well put Hmm... I'm not SOE's marketing guys, so I don't have to convince you to play. Krymelord
Very true, Vessen, what is it with Set and her sage-like posts? She brings a calm, much like that of the shrub, when in her presence. Sorry had to throw that in there Basically it comes down to: it is a Star Wars based MMO. I have been a SW Geek since I saw Episode 4 in the theater. I grew up with Star Wars. I have yet to watch an urelated James Earl Jones movie and not say, "The force is strong with this one!" As a kid I got the tape of Episode 4 and could literally recite it word for word, with the action figures in my lap. Unfortunately beer and debauchery have lessened those skills, but you see where I am going. This is the perfect opportunity to go back to that time when I "lived for" Star Wars. As an MMO by itself it will be stunning, then throw the rest in... Hehehe, just getting giddy thinking about it. EDIT: Just found out Set was a she not a he and made all applicable changes. My apologies Set, I hope I didn't insult you.

Not to flame, but I believe your thread was a bit rude. Don't intrude on this tighly knit community of Star Wars fans, and tell us that we have to convince you of anything. Being avid Star Wars fans, we can't really see why anyone wouldn't want to play this game. Since Star Wars came out in 1977 (correct me if I'm wrong, I wasn't alive then) people have dreamed of living in the Star Wars Universe; and this is their best chance to do so. Why are you so insecure with your decisions that you want others to make it for you? Sorry if I was too harsh.
setsuko
Punisher: yes, the post was indeed a bit rude. But also, it is not surprising; this is a market that is flooded by games right now. Every quarter there is (at least) one new MMORPG demanding attention. And given the fact that MMORPGs needs a larger dedication (both in gaming hours and the monthly payment), you have to choose wisely. This turns it into one of those situation where the consumer demands the seller to convince him to try the product. The consumer is a passive consumer, and the seller has to use marketing ploys, hypes etc to sell his goods. So no, the attitude is not hard to understand. However, the fact the he demands us, in the community, to convince him is strange. After all, since we don't know him means that we have nothing to lose if he chooses not to play. It's not like we get a share of the profit under the table. Or did I miss a deal or something? I recommend this young gentleman to become an active consumer instead. Check out the sites. Look at the promotion videos. Wait for the release, and then wait a month or two, and see which way the community sways. Take your consumer power back! Make a stand! Remember the Alamo! Yay! pssst! And setsuko's not a 'him'. Just a hint.

Lord_Vessen
No kidding...wisdom is something very good to have...or else you'll end up dead. (Especially in this game, "Lets go kill a Krayt Dragon! Its easy!" 30 minutes later... "Man I lost all my good items and skill points because of that dragon!") Do not underestimate the dragon, I mean look at its size! I want one as a mount though...
