You were all right, and I am a MORON!

Back in 1999, when I still had high hopes for "the new Star Wars movie", I pretty much ignored the Matrix. I blew it off as some stupid sci-fi flick that didn't deserve any attention whatsoever. (this all based on the previews I saw.) I thought it was a huge injustice that The Phantom Menace lost to it at the oscars for special FX, and I figured that hey, it’s Keanu. How can it be any good. So, years went by, Star Wars movies have gotten so dismal that I pay their production very little attention, and have gotten into the Lord of the Rings, and X-Men series, with the Matrix as far from my mind as possible, since - based on the previews - I wouldn’t like it. Then, I see the previews for the new one, and hey, it looks kind of cool, buy you know, it’s Keanu Reeves, so I blow it off, and watch X2 again. Then, I see that they are gonna show the first Matrix on TV, and you guessed it, ignored it. But, my sister, being wiser, caught about five minutes of it, and says “It looks kind of cool” So, I say, “Fine, everyone says its good, they can’t all be wrong. I’ll rent it next time I’m in Blockbuster.”

Well, I did, and its great. And I feel like such an idiot for not seeing it before. It is just such an engrossing plot that puts most other sci-fi films to shame. the acting is great, the FX are just amazing. I just cant get over how incredible the entire thing just puts the Star Wars movies to shame. Of course, so does Sesame Street, though both are intended for kids apparently.

I mean the plot is so twisted and tangled, yet so coherent, and that guy who played Elrond in LotR as Agent Smith was just inspired. I had no idea that that guy could be such a great bad guy. Even Keanu Reeves caught my attention in a good way. All around, It was - as you always said - superbly incredible. And that fight scene in the lobby with the security guards: Man, that was one of the coolest things ever. and they even used the slow mo shots excessively, but it worked. Everything about it worked perfectly. That's one of those that I'll have to see again just to catch what I missed.

So, just letting you all know that the hype for the Matrix was and is oh so well deserved. All of you that stood out and screamed what a great movie it is were right, and I really regret not seeing it on the big screen. But, for the new one, I will be at the theater as soon as I can scrape together the cash.

So, from here on out, the Matrix has claimed one more soul. :D

Well, I like the Matrix, the first one, but all the reviews on the Matrix: Reloaded say it, well, sucked. Is that true?

Well, if you take the red pill.....

I too was one of those people who boycotted The Matrix because it stole the thunder from a movie I love dearly called Star Wars: Episode 1, The Phantom Menace. For no reason whatsoever, my mom bought me the video. I asked her why, and she said, "Well I saw this special on TV about it, and it seemed right up your alley". So, because I love my mom, and also because I wanted to see what all the hype was about, I sat down and popped it in my VCR and was instantly memorized. It was not like anything I had seen before, it was a new concept, and it blended three of my favorite things successfully, which is Martial Arts, Sci-Fi, and action. The fact that Keanue Reeves was in it, didn't bug me either, in fact, I feel that movie was tailor made for him. I have hated movies that had him in it, in the past, but always liked him in Speed. The Matrix, was the perfect vehicle for him. Anyways, it made me see my way out of the Star Wars tunnel I was stuck in, and learn to appreciate other movies for what they are worth. I only wish now, I would have went to see it in a big theater...:( I did not pass on the opportunity to see Matrix Reloaded, and I am glad I went because I enjoyed the Hell out of it.

Well I saw the Matrix in a very small theatre, but it was better than your average TV :) I saw reloaded on an even bigger screen, too bad there's no IMAX close to where I live. I'd have to travel 2 hours to get there, but they only play stupid elephant and other wildlife movies

But welcome to the club ;) Oh and if you like the Matrix, you don't stand out, cause almost everyone likes it... MWUAHAHAA!!

when I did see it I watched it about 5 times in a row :) :) :)

but Reloaded still hasnt come to theatres here which is odd because they usually try to get movies like that right away
