Hmmm I kinda liked the Matrix, but the sequel was just really dissapointing. I cant really explain why, its just that when it was over I didnt feel like I had seen something worth 5 euros.

BTW keanu reeves might suck arse, but the Bill&Ted movies are immortal :D

I like the Matrix, and I don't think it's fair that the second movie gets so much hassle just because a load of geeks turned the first one into a shrine. The first one was brilliant, but it was no god, though for some reason people expected the second one to be.

I know it's fashionable to knock movies that gain cult-like followings, but in terms of being entertaining action movies I really can't see anything wrong with the two Matrix movies. Personally I preferred the second on - can't beat some of those action scenes.

I don't understand why either of them have a cult following, they weren't THAT brilliant, but I did love them and admittedly worship them. I don't... CULTIVATE them... or uh, whatever.

Yeah Remi, I think that most of the knocking of the second movie has to do with being 'brave' and standing out from the crowd. And it probably all started with goddamn Scott from PVP saying he felt like walking out in the middle of the second movie. What a prick. He only said that because he likes saying **** to annoy people.

I'd have to say that it gave a good adrenalin rush. i don't think much of it push any new envelopes in graphics and special effects, but it was nicely done with an overall okay storyline.

reminds me somewhat of efmi, funny in parts, but not up to standard. same here, Reloaded is a good movie, just not up to standard of say LOTR or SW.

I haven't seen Reloaded yet, but I saw the first and I thought it was great. Some films just rely on special effects, but the Matrix has an interesting storyline as well.

its easy to critise something, but can anyone actually say WHY they don't like the Matrix???

Matrix reloaded and Blade 2, two films which had OK storylines, but killer action/fight sequences and good effect. To tell you the truth, I went to see Matrix2 on my own. Why? Because sometimes I get pissed off about things, any kind of things really, doesn't matter, sometimes life in general just pisses me off (although it's usually people). Well to cool down, people do different things, some count to ten, some...um... do other stuff. I go to the movies alone. I don't know why, it's something about not being around anyone and yet being around a lot of people at the same time. And it's always an action movie, or something which doesn't require you to think a lot about the subject (which is why I have actually seen xXx). And well, one day I was pissed off and thought, hey, Matrix2 just came out, it's meant to have a lot of action, here we go. Some people just like the action and don't care about the storyline, doesn't make it a bad movie. It’s the ones with the truly bad storylines which get me, at least this had one you could follow and maybe be interested in.

Funny this thread was even made, considering that The Matirix movies have consumed a great deal of trekkies, and the box office results for Nemisis are only proof. This is a new series for a new generation of fans to get cought up in.

Oh yeah, I liked it too, and so did my parents who are in their early 50's.

MATRIX has a very good story

packed full of "deep" philosophical notions, straight out of a Philosophy 101 class full of aging hippies with nappy haircuts. I hate to say it, but they some how managed to make fight scenes boring (something I didn't think was physically possible until I watched this movie--they were too long with no pay off, unless you consider Neo running away like a ***** in every scene climactic).

in sumary:

Matrix1 - Awsome

Matrix2 - Not-so-good

btw:

There's an acceptable degree to how many times his ass can be shown in a movie, and that degree is either 0, or negative (negative means that Keanu Reeves' ass gets cut off, which would rule).
lol, true true.

i think matrix 1 had a great story line, the fights were better elaborated, in basic lines, the crew did a better job.

Matrix Reloaded clearly had another crew (the writers were the same, but the production crew, the coreography crew, etc was different) so a lot of things in the movie production changed, for worse. matrix reloaded was a lot more appelative, with sex scenes (im not complaining :D), funk dances, cave scenes (morpheous speach) cars exploding for no appearent reason, etc.

also, in matrix2 neo is so cheap! actually, every1 is cheap! in matrix 1, fighting an agent meant serious ass kicking. i mean, after watching matrix 2, I'M felling like fighting an agente, its a piece of cake! There are other minor problems about the relation between matrix 1 and 2, but they dont affect as much as this one.

in matrix reloaded, they tried another "revolution", but it was just too farfetched, i didnt find it good (and no, matrix 1 isnt farfetched at all, it is definitly possible). also, they decided to explain everything in the last 3 minutes! honestly, it looked like they had written the entire scene at the last minute. i almost felt raped by that scene...

maily, the story was almost as good. the fault for matrix reloaded being not-so-good falls entirely over the production crew.

Neo's meant to be a lot more confident in Matrix2 and has meant to have developed his skills a lot better which is why he is able to fight the agents without as much ass kicking (to himself) as before. that is precisely why the first fight sequence with the agents was put in there, to show how good he had become. and please note, ni the mutiple Agent Smith fight scene, it wasn't as easy for him as it could ahve eben and note he didn't actually kill any of them by simple blows with the stick, he mearly got them of his back whilst he fought more.

also don't count your chickens before they've hatched, they got the exact same fight choreographer for the second one as they had for the first and most of the team was the same (you have to take into account that production on this started some time after the first one came out so a lot of the original crew may not have been able to do this, but most of them came back.)
