I think probably one of the most memorable stories I had was when I met Wraithy in Theed ;) No, seriously that was cool, but here is another good one....

I originally started my Rodian Scout, Ebik, at Keren Naboo. I played there a few days and then took a delivery mission to Moenia, on the south eastern part of Naboo. I got there and I quickly joined a large hunting group (probably around 15-16 players). We hiked solidly for about 10 minutes to a spot that spawned Giant Peko Pekos (large dragon like birds) and Veermok Hunters and scouts...and not far probably 30m from where we were Mountain Ikopeis. Now, mind you most of these creatures are aggressive. And when our party arrived at the spot it was twilight. So, our marksmen would open fire and as soon as the mobs would come into melee range the brawlers would open up a can. I pretty much working on my unarmed....so we start hunting and we kill one Veermok hunter (aggressive but not killers) and about 4 others aggroed on us and it was like a page out of Michael Creighton's "congo" it was crazy, one Veermok hunting came onto me and I quickly did my unarmed stun and blind, but the thing was still beating on me like I was a pinota. Luckily another couple of guys pitched in and helped me dispatch of the Veermok. It conned white to me so I got some nice skills to it and when I harvested I got probably around 20 hide.

Next we did something pretty stupid, we attacked the Mountain Ikopie lair, and we didn't realize that the Mt. Ikopie had an armor rating of 1 so basically all our damages were halved. And we aggroed about 5 of 'em and they incapped our whole party. It was a great night, I looked at the clock and realized that I was with the hunting party for about an hour, and I had to go to work in under 8 hours. It was 1:00am :)

To answer your question, it's really natural. You don't see 'em till the come up on your scopes. Sometimes it's a pain if you are trying to travel one place to another 'cause you keep on coming across really aggressive mobs. But, as long as you stay at least 64m away they won't bother you.

When i started, the mobs really haven't taken over the wilderness and it was kind of wierd but recently (the past two patches) I really noticed a difference. There were more mobs, more NPCs in the wilderness and you generally didn't have to go as far to find a nice lair or pack of mobs to attack.

Another story....

It was my first day on Corellia. I took a transport from Moenia, Naboo to Tyrenna, Cor. I started with a group of about 5 and by the time we got to a good spot it was me, a brawler and a marksman. So we just hunted smartly, and took mobs one at a time. One time we accidently pulled 3 huge-ass chicken birds. (don't remember their name off the top of my head, i have a screen but i'm not at my home cpu). And these guys were white, and aggressive but not killers. So we were orderly and smart and converged on the first bird and just opened up a can, but as we fought one, another soon joined the fight (the birds were calling in reinforcements) and we eventually got incapped after killing two of them. It was wild and it was so awesome.

On the same subject, I remember soloing one time on Tatooine, and I was fighting a wamp-rat (dark blue to me at the time) and another mob aggroed on it and it started to attack the same wamp-rat so the wamp-rat attacked him and I still got the skills. It was pretty realistic to see other creatures attack other creatures.

Creatures spawn around a central "structure" of a type depending on their species.. Womprats around a pile of garbage, etc. Each structure appears to only spawn a limited number of mobs before it runs dry, and your group gets exp for destroying it. I know these spawn as mission objectives(and there apparently isn't anything preventing other people from killing yours, dunno if you get credit), but I'm not entirely sure whether or not they spawn on their own too. They're randomly distributed as far as I can tell; sometimes an area is completely empty, other times there are 3-4 camps within sight.
