Galaxies: Are you getting it?

I want to play Galaxies so bad, but I can't afford the monthly fee (with essentially funnelling all income into it), and I don't have a credit card. So, I probably won't play it... unless something happens (cough cough help mom cough cough)...but that means 4 months of no new PC games until KOTOR... waaah

I won't be getting it because like most others(I'm surprised how many there are out there, not only on this forum) I don't want to pay a monthly fee.

What is it? 14/15$? lets convert that into canadian funds here, 20$ a month? X12=240$ a year on a game? sorry, no deal, even though I would love to play it, I don't have the means to pay for an MMORPG.

My brother is about to start paying for an MMORPG that I have been playing for the last while when it was free, and semi-pay. All this talk about 16 hours a day is true, my younger brother is addicted to this game, he hasn't played it in a month, yet he still talks about it non-stop, the people, prices on items, bosses, guilds, and the like, it's become his life. MMORPG's lure you over like the dark side until you succumb to their immeasurable power.

I most likely won't be getting it. Why not? I can't. The only way I would be able to get it is if certain family members helped pay for it. But unfortunately, those family members will each have to pay the full subscription price to be able to play, since they'll have to subscribe to another server.

If I do get it...assuming my brother and I get the money to pay double price...it won't be at least for another six months. Maybe then they'll have the bugs I keep hearing about fixed =/

Yes it is a lot.....but honestly, I'd rather spend that for one incredible game in the SW universe rather then spending it on 4 mediocre games.

I'm playing this game probably on average 3 hrs per day. That's really not a lot. I still have lots to do, a girlfriend to hang out with. I never watch tv anyways, so I just spend less time here. Which is fine because I don't want to be overly spoiled.

I'm not worried about it taking over my life. Sure there will be days when I play it more and days when I don't play it at all.....but that's the way games have always been with me. If no-one else here is getting it, that's fine with me - more room on my server! ;P:D

If it gets good reviews on the PC I might get it for the XBox. I'm sure that the game will be as good as Everquest in a couple of weeks but once they add that expansion pack that gives vehicles as well as big space battles it has the possibilty to be awesome. But all the same if they can make it fun for the PC they can make it fun for the XBox.

Seriously can you imagine having your very own X-Wing or Falcon. There is juz something about that that really seems cool.

Holy cow...

My uncle bought the game and I played it today. It is sheer brilliance! Anyways, here goes my story....

I start out with the tutorial, no big deal. I walk around and learn this and that. Finally I pick my planet. I head off to Moenia, Naboo. Moenia is a dark, kind've hazy place, but is very busy and active. From there I wander around, talk to the NPC's, gaze at the beautiful settings(with the graphics turned down!). Then the fun begins. I walk into the middle of a faction war. Apparently the thugs had decided to try and take over the city, but the townspeople weren't going to have anything to do with that. :D

I use my newbie scouting skills and start blasting away, gaining experience by the handful. Once I almost die, I run off into the town and talk to the local trainers and just go talk to the people running around. It is quite interesting hearing their stories. Some have already ran into the movie characters from what they say. (believe it or not)

This may not sound that exciting in text, but if you would've seen it, you would know.

I'm definitely getting it as soon as I can. :)

Um o.o

It's for X-box?!?

I suppose I should be asking in the SWG forum...;)

From the top o' my head, I believe Galaxies was originally scheduled to be on the X-Box and another console... I've read that there was apparantly a X-Box logo on the official website, but the logo was quietly removed at some point.

It was originally scheduled for both Xbox and PS2, but as Burrie said, the logos was quietly removed from the official site one day. Lucasarts released a statement later, confirming that the console versions were officially on hold and all efforts were focused on completing the PC version. The console versions might get resumed at a later point, probably depending on the success of the PC version. I wouldn't count on seeing them any time soon though.

As for the question about me getting Galaxies, the answer is no. The impression I've gotten reading reviews and opinions on the net is that apparently the game is pretty much a pile of crap. Missing content, pointless missions, repetetive landscape, empty areas... I knew it, this always happens to MMORPG's. Maybe I'll pick it up in a years time, when they've nursed it up to a playable level.

My answer is, yes. After I get KotOR for XBox. I plan on working for some money to get the collector's edition that's 80 bucks. I got enough to buy it now but I don't wanna spend the 50 I've had for a month now. I told myself "Don't spend the 50 you need it for when KotOR comes out" and I've only spent the extra money I keep getting. I had 60 extra bucks but I spent it on Neverwinter Nights and Shadows of Undrentide. Hoping they would hold me over but nope. I might go to the mall this weekend and trade in NWN and SoU plus Brute Force and hopefully I'll have enough for the 50 dollar SWG.

I meant I'd try to get it. If I don't have enough money from trading in Brute Force, Neverwinter Nights, Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undrentide, Real Bout High School Vol. 1, and Brotherhood of the Wolf then I plan on getting the strategy guide then working to save up for the 50 one. Besides nobody seems to be buying the Collector's Edition at the EB near my house.
