Matt-Liell
Well most people I know think that the books are kids books and that I shouldn't waste my time reading them. But I think the books are good. The idea behind it is amazing I just wonder where J.K. Rowling got the idea for it! And I don't think they are kids books at all, some parts would be quite terrifying to a child. Some people watch the movies and say "Well nothing was scarey!" But they couldn't go into as much detail as the books or no kids would be able to see them. They are really dark books actually, so I'm seeing what you think. For Kids or Anyone?
ZBomber
Anyone. Lots of adults read the books. I've read the first 4, and they are pretty good. Besides, how arre most kids gonna read 800 pages.
<JOTD>Jedi Hunter
Personally I've read the books, and they had a very child like quality to them. That I didn't like. So I have to say yes, they are for children. But if you find sollace in them, good for you man. I've got nothing against them really.

Lost Welshman
I don't like the harry potter books, only because I much preffer Discworld. Harry Potter does seem alot more kiddish if you compare it to discworld. Although I'm not saying its just for kids.

Agen
Harry potter is far too chliched, childish and simple to be real adult books. Dune, LOTR, Lyonesse are much, much better. Anyone. Lots of adults read the books. I've read the first 4, and they are pretty good. Besides, how arre most kids gonna read 800 pages. Don't talk mince, I read the Lord of the rings when i was 7/8 with no problem at all. 1500 pages in a much smaller font is much harder than the silly potter books. mima kake
I think Harry Potter is a great story. I like the part where he is flying around with a broomstick up his ass. And the best part is when he does these magical things. And I have a weak for pointy hats. and I love those round classes oooow.
Darth Eggplant
are Potter books only for kids, gee, well I have no kids of mine own and I am an adult and I own all 4 and on monday I am going to get the 5th. as for what HP books are; JK Rowling is in her lifetime a classic writer. Harry Potter like the Oz books, or the Narnia collection, or Peter Pan or Pinochio will be remembered and read far into the future. As for LOTR and DUNE yes in their genders they are archytypes. but one should not compare them with Potter. as for all the brilliance that LOTR contain, there is also way too much fa la la foolish and out dated 19th century elfery in them. actually it pads the book to make it look bigger and hence more important, and secondly it detracks from the over all creative work. anyone who has ever read the Princess Bride, and not seen the movie will understand what I mean because the original novel was fillled with too much detail too. as Salieri says in Amadeus, Motzart sometimes has too many notes. there was a big reason why Tom bombadil didnt make the film. he was just plain silly. and as for Dune Herbert padded the set too. because they are still Sandworming it out there. all this said, if you like Potter, LOTR and DUNE good for you. if you only like Potter and LOTR good for you. if you only like Potter and Dune good for you. if you only like LOTR and DUNE good for you. but if you dont like any of them, or have never read any of em, for heaven sakes, put down the game slave 2 and go read a book. especially mister I droppped out of school in 7th grade out there;)
