BawBag™
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. Please vote. Some of you do not feed such threads, but to those who do I plead you join me. The "Lets Work Off Some Steam...." thread has been closed. This is a thread which I began posting on at LF and met nice people there. It is also thread which has unfortunetly been frowned upon by some. However, I still feel it should be left open for all as it has generated many replies. Please peeps, shout out - let it live on. Please. Many thanks. P.S. It has also come to my attention that my fight thread is in jeopardy also, same applies.

-=ReApEr=-
Ok let me just say something, that thread was closed as it turnt into a flaming thread. Which can lead to flaming wars, and sets a bad example for the forum. One it broke the Forums Code of coduct, which is located here for your information. Now if you want to read it with me. 1st section of the rules, rule number 3 says: Spamming is strictly prohibited. Your post needs to contribute to the discussion or the topic. Your thread broke the rules of this forum, and was closed by a moderator . Now Mods only close a thread for a good reason, and normally is not overturned. This appeal does not work, making issues public does not work. It just annoys the Moderators and Admins even more, if you think you were mistreated then i suggest you privite message the staff member involved. Clearly and calmy stating why you think your thread should be reopened even though it broke the forum rules, in this case the Staff member was Darth Groovy who closed the thread. And that is who i advice you to Privite message. Hope this has cleared things up, and in the future do not make things public just privite message the staff member involved. I would privite message him now, and forget about this thread.
•-BLaCKouT-•
I just want to have a say before this gets closed. I exchanged PM's with Darth Groovy and he explained to me why the thread was closed. Now even though I may not agree with the decision, I respect it as he's a mod, and it's his perogative. The fact is, that several complaints were file to him about the 'steam' thread. I don't know who sent them, or who they were about, and quite frankly, I don't want to know. The fact that there was enough to close the thread is fair enough in itself. I will comment however, that it seems a bit childish to me, someone complaining about a thread once they're 'out-flamed'. It was clearly stated on page 1 that the thread was for fun, and I believe that any times it did begin to get out of hand, we sorted it out 'in-house' so to speak. If anyone had a problem with anything I posted, I would have far preferred them to PM myself and sort it out with me, as it certainly wan't my intention to upset anyone. I re-iterate that I have no idea how many complaints were sent, or the nature of those complaints. These are just my thoughts. In closing (no pun intended), I just want to say that above all else, this saddens me. But as I've already stated, I'm prepared to live with the decision. Peace out, B. EDIT: It has also been mentioned, by more than one person, that it 'turned into a flame thread'. The opening post on page 1 states that the objective is to "savagely flame the person who posted before you". It's always been a flame thread and never pretended to be anything else. A small point, but one I wanted to make. Oh, and Reaper - yes understood. I wasn't going to make this thread but I thought I'd make a statement as it was here. -=ReApEr=-
Even it if was for fun, it ended up breaking the forum rules. And was closed by a admin of this forum, like i said i would Privite message Groovy for a clearer insight into the matter. And if you want it re opened, ask him and state why it should be opened. But in the end it broke the forum rules, and it was going to head for trouble. Like all threads of that nature do, as many people take it to far. And that's just life my friend. BawBag™
For your information Reaper, I PM'ed Groovy before creating this thread. Also, this isn't a dig at the 'policing' if you will here at LF, because I think It's damn fair and creates a friendly atmosphere. You simply assumed. I think it's fair for me to create a poll however, to get an insight to everyone's view on this topic, not breaking any LF rules. Although Groovy hasn't responded, i'm sure he'll give me fair reasons on why he closed the thread. Another point is that the posts in the steam thread were intended for a bit of fun, if someone got out of line, they would be informed Like so. I just enjoyed the banter in there. So please don't give me the third degree on stuff I'm alreay clued up on. *Rant over*
-=ReApEr=-
Ok have it your way, you can rant and rave as much as you want. But in the end the thread got closed, like many other before it. And that is where it will probally rest.
Darklighter
Threads like the "Let's Work Off Some Steam..." were bound to cause some deliberation around here, for a number of reasons. First of all, even though it was intended jokingly as a "flaming thread", that is essentially what it was, and was therefore in breach of the forum rules. Secondly, the actual aim of the thread was very broad: it seemed to simply turn into a chat in small text, with an insult added on to the post. And finally, the complaints recieved reinforced the reason for it being closed: I mean flaming as well as spam are touchy subjects around here. Now I don't want you to seem disheartened to think that we wanted to close the thread. I know you made it out of good intentions, just to have a bit of a laugh, but it developed into what I stated before. I know the concept was meant lightheartedly, but it was not receieved that lightly. As for the poll...believe me when I say that it's not gonna help in encouraging the the mods to open it again. Whether it stays open or not is not based on a majority vote from the forum users, it is based on the fair judgement of the moderators, just trying to keep this place in order. I respect Groovy's decision for closing the thread, it was fair based on what is in the code of conduct. Therefore, if you would like to discuss this further, let him know via PM (though I can see you've already done so). Please don't bring it to the boards, it won't help the situation. Thank you. Darth Groovy
I would like to add that I was told by admin that if the thread got out of control that I should close it. After the complaints, that is what I did. Admin and mods allowed the thread to stay open, but once the complaints occured, it simply had to be closed. I understand this will upset some poeple, but please understand that mods, supermods, and admin have a set of rules they must follow as well. The "Steam" thread was a breach of rules, but we allowed it, because it was created for the best of intentions, unfortunately it ultimately failed, and the thread was closed by me. Future threads of this nature also will not be allowed. If you want to have a flame fest, I would recoment mIRC, or any number of chat relay programs. Case Closed.
