jediduo
I have a small request: I keep hearing names being thrown around, like Viper and others. Granted, I have been a member of this forum for more than a year now, but I'm in the dark when these names and memories are referred to in posts. I have a feeling that there are a lot of good stories, (funny, sad, good, and bad) that should be told here for the benefit of the newbies here and the not-newbies-but-not-oldies, like Me and Jatt13 and others. So, if some of you veteran forummers like Boba Rhett, Havoc, STTCT, Eets, and Darthfergie have any interesting tales to tell, please share them here. *pulls up stool and waits patiently*
Eets
There once was a man named Kvan. He was a lonely fellow with a large beer belly and a ragged beard-thing. He looked alot like the devil. He was very much interesting in SW role-playing, and in GB (that's Galactic Battlegrounds, in case you didn't know.). He was one of the first members here at GeeBeeDotCom, but eventually tapered off from it once he got a job and a girlfriend and all those other things he calls a.. "life" ?? O_O He was a good, solid GBDC member. But now.. he's dead to us. YOU HEAR THAT BITCH!? YOU'RE DEAD TO ME!!!! *cough* Well, I'll let the others handle the story of Viper and bill.. You hurt me deep duo, you hurt me real deep. You forget to mention the one with memberID#45. I'm around here longer than most of the ones you mention over there ... But hey ... that means I don't have to tell a story, aye.
TieDefender75
I am no veteran member, but i can tell stories! Im going to tell you as blunt as ever. Viper was a spammer. Around the time GB.com joined Lucasforums, he began to terrorize us. He was banned, but kept coming back under new names. Then i think we IP banned hi and now he is gone. BTW Duo, have you been looking in the forum history or something? I have.....and i didnt like what i saw.
Zygomaticus
You hurt me too, Duo... I can tell you the story of the great "Tell You I Will." Essentially, this was a topic crafted by the willy Young David (correct?). Little did he know of the plague that it would one day bring upon GeeBee. Tell You I Will was basically a topic where you answer the previous question and pose another question. Get it answered, get asked another question and so on...At one point in time the questions and answers were reasonable and thoughtful. Soon it turned into a burdenous mass of drivel - with nothing but 3 word questions comprising of "[this] or [that]" or the likes. I don't know about the earlier versions of TUIW, but I personally participated in TUIW 3.01 (the biggest and the baddest TUIW of all time, no?) and it bulged to a magnificent size - 3000 odd posts, I believe. Oh, and you wouldn't believe who had the most posts in that thread... Anyway, a while after it became a burdenous mass of drivel, the admins shut it down on the fateful first anniversary of GeeBee.com, last July. It was reopened by Boba Rhett once in recent times but given the waning interest it sank into the never spoken of depths of GeeBee.com - off the edge of the map, where be monsters

swphreak
anything "educational" can be "changed" I have a question. Was there a time in the GB History where we posted in the "GB Discussion?" You know that place around the corner?
Sherack Nhar
Wow, you post here since the very beginning and you don't even get listed as one of the veteran members... Don't worry newbies. Just read this thread and all your questions will be answered! And TD, viper was a real troll, not just a spammer. And saying that he "terrorized" us is giving him too much credit He was just an annoying little brat with way too much time on his hands.

Oh yes Until a month after the game was released, I believe that forum had just as much, if not more, traffic as this one does. I personally believe the game was a relative let-down. Soon after that forum became ghost town

darthfergie
heheh, LoS was good good stuff. Well back in the days before we were all that closely modded we had many members, myself included, who would post over 100 posts per day! Tie Guy nailed 1000 within the first week. Then I lost 300 in a server error and never got them back. And yes, GD was a hot item back in the day...it really was. For the first few weeks it was the only area I would post in...mainly because the people in off-topic were just a tad strange...but I will confess to posting multiple times in Havoc's various quote threads. Man, we spammed alot back then... Of course most of GD was speculation, such as what things we would like to see, debates on using the AoK engine, analysing screenshots and finding various units in them to slowly peice together a unit tree, etc. Then the game came out... [edit]Speaking of server error I think Tie Guy lost about 4000 posts recently...you had at least 6000 and weren't too far behind me at last check, 2000 is just a bit low...[/edit]
Tie Guy
Originally posted by Sherack Nhar Don't worry newbies. Just read this thread and all your questions will be answered! QUOTE] Yep, there's the real forum history. It's a true story. Oh, and i'll tell Delphi's story, given his recent resurgence. People who like Command and Conquer might know who Delphi, the real one, is. He works for Westwood Studios and is also an admin at the Red Alert 2 boards. Our Delphi came here claiming to be the man himself. He wasn't, and everyone on the board knew it, but he persisted in his ersatz facade. Eventually, I suppose after enough people ignored him, he degraded into another senseless spammer who couldn't spell to save his life. Eventually he was forced to change his name to Delphi's Clone and give up his outrageous claims. After some time, his spamming habits got him banned temporarily, after which he didn't comback, until now.....
Zygomaticus
Tie Guy, you accuse Delphi of crimes he didn't commit - atleast to the extent in which you describe it. Sure he may have been a 'spammer' in the austere GeeBee vocabulary, but he was by no means another Viper. And he was not temporarily banned for spamming - it was for cheating in the senatorial elections. He basically registered under many aliases and voted for himself to get elected senator. He was figured out and issued a 2 week ban, after which he abstained from coming here.

You are right about the Senare thing, though, i had forgotten about that. He probably should have been banned for spamming though, i can remember some pretty bad specimens. Ahhh Viper, he was the antithesis of me. He couldn't spell and he loved everything that I hate (Republicanism, The Yankees, etc)

Did you even read my post before-last? *smacks Clefo upside the head* I know you can't really start these things, but this forum needs a good story right now, like LotS, Dark Tides, and Second Contest: Story (Road Trip). Those were awesome.
