  1. Confirmed that Indy cannot learn Colonel Vogel's name by reading it on the Trophy. That's a little disappointing, since Guybrush can learn LeChuck's name from Spiffy the dog.
  2. See, this is probably why Stan is in jail.
  3. Yeah! I'm guessing some unique comments other than "That doesn't seem to work" on everything and everyone.
  4. Let the hype continue. EDIT: This is a Ron tweet, but I'm still no good at copying them right. The Horse Armor will have interactions. https://twitter.com/grumpygamer/status/1562564868359995393?s=20&t=KWXe-3Pa2PnmOyacF2qDZg
  5. I've rambled on it, but I don't think I've yet linked these forums to the video kypello made of buying the Sea Monkey for 2000 lousy pieces of eight. Possible on the Ultimate Talkie Edition from LogicDeluxe, which removes a bug that ignored Porthole Defoggers being rejected when the value is appraised.
  6. Possible responses to using the Horse Armor: "I want to keep it in mint condition." "It's not my size." "It's out of gas." "They can get their own armor." "That's not a horse!" "I don't think it's fungible." "Nope. But I hope it was worth it for you." "Hey, there's a hidden compartment here. I think I can get it open..." <Install Update 22> <Update Not Found>
  7. But seriously, I bought the KOTOR and KOTOR 2 rereleases on Switch, even though KOTOR 2 came out with all kinds of bugs. Those were games from the 2000s. Portal and Portal 2 now have a Switch rerelease pack also. I wonder how sales for all those went?
  8. I really wish the other games were in a collection on Switch.
  9. Now I'm wondering if this is before or after the final puzzle in Tales.
  10. Delores people: did the interface on Delores have a "right click" that revealed a list of other verbs? I'm trying to guess if the MI6 interface might have that right click and verb list, or not. I never played Delores but have heard things.
  11. Just going to point out as I have elsewhere: the verb coin of MI3 was not a crapshoot. It told you what the verb would become. Grim Fandango was the crapshoot!
  12. Random thought: I hope the New Pirate Leaders (or at least one) turn out to be sympathetic characters instead of straight villains. That rock n roll take on the SCUMM Bar theme is catchy! Plus, I don't really have strong feelings about the old Pirate Leaders; I was surprised to see them show their faces still! I'm surprised that Guybrush expects to see them at all now... though, we don't know the full story here.
  13. You could easily be right with the hint system being something else. But the concern with hints coming "too early" could be remedied by making you press a button to progress hints forward, instead of being time locked. Your examples could be resolved by it... hover on the storekeeper could show "Maybe I should follow him", hovering over an empty grog cup might show, "I need more than one to make it to the jail," etc. But yes, true, "could work that way" doesn't mean it will. EDIT: Ah, Eurogamer says Devolver confirmed the hint system isn't related.
  14. I bet it becomes the hint system when you enable hints. Turn on hints, and I imagine the kitchen door starts with "Smells good in there" and with time turns to "I need to distract the cook" and "That white tablecloth looks pretty flammable", or some such.
  15. I used a bad example. I meant iit looked like only left click was available to the objects we saw on these screens (though the image suggests other clicks might be available elsewhere), and that Guybrush enters the SCUMM Bar, or talks to the pirate, or presumably talks to the Pirate Leaders or enters the kitchen, or presumably comments on the sign or fireplace.
  16. Maybe the little mouse icon only indicated a left click, but there were other clicks available? For example, the Pirate near the door. I didn't see an indication of any other action than "Talk to pirate". That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it's what it looked like to me.
  17. It's like the Look command has had its effects placed on the hovering text. Instead of needing to examine the kitchen door to hear Dominic say, "Smells good in there," it gives Guybrush's thoughts on the hover. So a lot of items will only have one interaction choice.
  18. It's possible that the only reason I bought a PS4 was to access the Grim Fandango remaster and the Disney Afternoon Collection. As a non-PC player, I felt the need to upgrade my PS3 to a PS4 to play these 90s PC and NES games on my living room TV. Maybe someday I'll get a PS5, if they release Curse of Monkey Island, Zak McKraken, Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II, or SNES Goof Troop on it. EDIT: Why is this relevant? I guess it isn't. Except I'm an example of an adult who doesn't buy new games but will buy console rereleases for old games, or new sequels for old franchises (e.g. Monkey Island).
  19. If I could get into my Casual Time Machine, and go back to Best Buy's PC Games aisles from the 1990s...
  20. I haven't bought PC games since the times before Steam and GOG. But I take it Steam is an unacceptible medium of purchase for some of you?
  21. I know this wasn't an ultimatum and was only a half-joke. But that was my point in the Largo example: how would you illustrate it? Maybe the most natural way would be to have characters familiar with them start out in "they" pronouning. If you try anything else in visual terms, I doubt it would land well. (In that sense it would be easier to depict nonbinary than trans in this type of game. It's not like Undertale/Deltarune, where a lion has a mane that could be tied up.)
  22. I dare say we actually don't know. Chieftain Beluga never corrects Elaine when she uses a "he" pronoun for him, but I don't think we ever get gender answers on Anemone. EDIT: Also, we aren't dealing with humans here. I think Chapter 1 had the pirate explain that the Merfolk had no words for "male" or "female"? For all we know, the Merfolk might not have gender concept or even be sexed at all. Elaine could be defaulting to "he" for Chieftain Beluga because he honestly doesn't care or understand the question!
  23. I'm replaying Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade for the first time in years. Did you know Indy has reactions when you try to Pick Up some of the people in the Venice restaurant? Man: "I don't want to disturb him." Woman: "I don't think she would appreciate my attention." Man: "I don't want to disturb him." Cat: "Why would anyone want a cat when they could have a dog?" Old Lady: "Please! I've got manners!" Slob: "I don't want to disturb him." Lover (woman): "She just doesn't have Elsa's... charisma." Lover (man): "That's not my style, and he's definitely not my type." EDIT: Even though Tales restored Guybrush by the end, I like to think that was his skeleton under Venice, and that I have his hook in my inventory yet again.
