33 - Actually he seems to dislike the apostles most, and the rest of organized Christianity. You might check out sections 31-32 for more on the "distortion" of Jesus ( ). I think he makes a good point in that people have to live like Jesus in order to be at peace, feel "oneself in heaven." Following in the footsteps of Jesus seems like a big theme to me.
44 - I think you'd need to read the whole thing in order to get an idea of what he is ranting at here. Supposedly there is more on this in the Genealogy of Morals, I'll have to read that. From what I understand he is working from a view of morality completely different than a Christian's (there's a little of that in the first few sections). The disagreement here stems from, I think, a universal application of the concept of "good" that comes from Christianity. I, for instance, do not think that the "good" is only X, but would have to look at the context in which it was said in order to find out what is meant by it. Clearly Nietzsche is using a different context and he is irritated at how Christians think of all positions as if they are to be interpreted in the same way.
53 - I think he is on to something here, actually. Martyrdom does not say anything about the truth of the cause that the person died for, but only shows how much the person believed in it. You can be a martyr for your country even if it is in the wrong; you can die for a false belief. So, far from justifying their beliefs, martyrdom can easily confuse the issue in regards to the truth of those beliefs. They, as he says, "harm truth" because they make people think: "if someone is willing to die for this, surely there is something true in it?"
So, "Is the cross an argument?" No, it's not - just because people die for a belief does not show that it was worth dying for.
Of course, my conception of religion is somewhat different than Nietzsche's, so many of his arguments are somewhat uninteresting to me-- but I think they are applicable to many people who do believe in the way he dislikes so much.

What is this? I am suspicious. >_>
Do you know, it looks similar to the art on the covers of Ayn Rand's books.

The neighbors are not your problem!
Oh, I found some interesting parts of Nietzsche's The Antichrist for you:
Section 33 - New way of life
Section 44 - Definition of morality (see the very last paragraph for the interesting part). Nietzsche doesn't like how Christians have tried to make their good a universal.
Section 53 - All of this one is interesting.

I see. Well, prepare to be buried in an unmarked grave in the desert then.
I'm not going to dig it but I hear there's plenty of pits there to fall into!

I'm sorry, I haven't seen anything more on the DF2 mod in ages! I doubt that anyone is working on such a mod anymore, though. It's been a long time since JA was released.

I can see her much better, yes indeed! Also, congrats on this job -- I am attempting to find another one for myself, my brother and friend have suddenly decided that traveling to Australia is the name of the game, so of course I must go as well! It requires about 10,000 USD all told to go there for a year on a work or study visa so we have our work cut out for us!
Anyways, how do you like receptionist-ing?

No, it actually isn't because you can't see me before you since I am from Internet. >:|
Was your trip good? Did you find many pieces of dead people? Were there mummies? I think it would be pretty freaky if the mummies got up and went all "OMNOMNOM!" on your archaeologist friends. I suppose that hasn't happened though, since it wasn't in the newspapers. Did you find pottery bits? My mum did archeology, you know. She investigated American Indians, however. Mostly she just found trash heaps! Have you found trash heaps? It would be sweet if you found a trash heap but it was really a tomb DISGUISED as a trash heap! Wow, that would be pretty awesome. Dig dig dig dig dig TADAA!
Darathy the victorious!
Sorry! I got carried away a little! Anyways: if I am WRONG on a subject, Darathy, then you should quote me so that I know that I'm so wrong you can fit a hippopotamus in between the RIGHT way and the MY way! I would enjoy that more, yes I would. Hippos are pretty sweet. Of course the subject I am speaking of is RE: corinthian's statements about you catholics loving works only.
Also there's something strange about those Aquinas recordings, I believe they were vandalized or something since it suddenly became quite hard to take seriously on the "ESSENCE OR..." something track. I think it was the sixth one. The narrator kept transposing "girl" for God! So strange!
I would like your opinion on this. Otherwise it was very AQUINASian. I noticed a part where he was demonstrating a property of God by quoting a "praise" passage from the bible (if you remember I told you about the praise passages in relation to the ontological argument, cf bouwsma) - I am none too sure of that being such a good idea! I can't remember where it was exactly, but I'll look it up for you later.
DEVILS, Darathy! Have you read "The Screwtape Letters"? You would like them, I think. Not devils, the letters! It mainly consists of devils trying various ways to tempt a recent convert into being EVIL. Interesting!
Adeiu! I think I've written the longest profile message EVAR TO EXIST. I'm quite proud of this fact.

Hello bee! Just popping by, posting things on here like a Sam who believes these things raise his post count! I like your avatar but it could be made a little brighter - the contrast is low--ow!
Anyways! <3!

i think that you are indeed worthy of my support, even though at the moment you are not actually present in my signature. this presence is sure to be restored reasonably soon after I have gotten over the joker so rest assured, your glory will once again be known by the masses.

i beg your pardon but i am afraid my excuse is that my lappy's hard drive crashed which makes me without a compy insofar as it is true that i am currently viewing the web off of a linux live cd. THEREFORE i cannot install skype at the moment, that is all, and I get on at times when I am on different computers, which probably makes sense in some other continuum. AS FAR AS THAT GOES. Devil!

That had better not be from the ET game or I will bury you in a desert in an unmarked grave!
-
what what does that mean i don't even know it's all SO COMPLICATED you're a schemer aren't you
-
Ender, thinking about it a bit more I don't think I would classify it as philosophy at all. Maybe "pre-philosophy" - the sort of thing that might make you want to do philosophy.
Anyways, I appreciate the recommendation. Thanks!

"Do I really look like a man with a plan, Harvey? I don't have a plan. The mob has plans, the cops have plans. You know what I am, Harvey? I'm a dog chasing cars. I wouldn't know what to do with one if I caught one. I just do things. I'm a wrench in the gears. I hate plans. Yours, theirs, everyone's. Maroni has plans, Gordon has plans. Schemers trying to control their little worlds. I am not a schemer. I show schemers how pathetic their attempts to control things really are. So when I say that what happened to you and your girlfriend wasn't personal, you know I'm telling the truth."
JOKER GIVES DENT A GUN.
"It's a schemer who put you where you are. You were a schemer. You had plans. Look where it got you. I just did what I do best- I took your plan and turned it on itself. Look what I have done to this city with a few drums of gas and a couple bullets. Nobody panics when things go according to plan, even if the plans are horrifying. If I tell the press that tomorrow a gangbanger will get shot, or a truckload of soldiers will get blown up, nobody panics. But when I say one little old mayor will die, everyone loses their minds!!! Introduce a little anarchy, upset the established order, and everything becomes chaos. I am an agent of chaos. And you know the thing about chaos, Harvey? It's fair."

Hmm, you're right, that does sound a little off. Uh, it seemed like a good idea at the time?
I see niner is being quite suave!
-
Darathy, if you have a few minutes I'll be glad to discuss things with you on the skype. I listened to the entirety of those Aquinas sounds you gave to me, and I'd like to talk about them to you.
Otherwise: have fun with your diggings! It must be fun to get out of a museum and do some hands-on work. Nice!

I do dearly love chocolate, inyri! How did you guess!?
I suggest we get a giant chocolate melting-pot, and then direct you to stand inside of it in such a way as to create a giant chocolate-inyri which we will then partake of (we being of course everyone on skype, but particularly me, bee, and niner).
Anyways, due to Ender's baleful influence I will sleep now and dream chocolate dreams! <3
