  1. @Phoenix: what can I say; playing TSL again @Taak Farst: welcome. Hope it helps.
  2. You should be able to build a very decent rig for the money you're looking to spend. I can't speak to most of the games that you listed, however I can tell you that Skyrim will run on Ultra (with occational issues) with a card with 1GB of GDDR. You'll want at least 2GB if you plan on running the HD texture packs. My card has 3GB (EVGA GeForce 660) and doesn't even break a sweat with HD Skyrim on Ultra. If you're looking for a gaming rig, pick your video card first and then base everything else off of that (i.e. games don't utilize hyperthreading so don't bother buying a proc that supports it, etc). Similarly, if the games that you tend to play don't fair very well with SLI, then you can save a few bucks on your mobo too (this doesn't mean buy a cheap one, it means don't buy one with bells and whistles that you'll never use). RAM is dirt cheap right now, but remember that 2 sticks are better than 4, so resist the urge to lose your mind with a 16GB kit. 8 is going to be overkill (but morally justifiable overkill) unless you do a lot of video editing, etc (in which case forget what I said about the proc above). Aside from your graphics card, the best investment you can make is an SSD. Do your homework on SSD controllers before you buy though and don't buy an SSD if it has a crappy controller. I have an SSD for my OS and apps and a traditional hard drive for files (mods, docs, music, etc). Having an SSD is like having a race car; don't waste it taking it to the corner market to pick up milk. If Q happens to see your thread, I'm sure that he'll have lots of awesome advice as well. He's never steered me wrong.
  3. I risk jinxing myself again, but a few days ago I edited the ini thusly: FullScreen=0 AllowWindowedMode=1 The game launches in windowed mode, however if I maximize the window it shows full screen (though I do have the small black aspect ratio bars top and bottom). No lock-ups since the change.
  4. Hopefully. Obviously, it could crash again and prove me wrong, however that was the longest I've played without an issue. EDIT: Yep, last night was blind luck. Locked up again mid-dialog. Oh well.
  5. FWIW, I've been having this problem too. Skyrim had a similar crashing issue that was related to having the audio set to something other than 16bit, 44100hz (CD quality). I just went in and adjusted this setting. I'll post again later if I can play for a while without crashes EDIT: Sooo, that didn't work. Locked up so hard after a couple of minutes that even task manager couldn't save me. Tried the Dantooine lag fix and haven't had a lock up since (knock on wood) EDIT2: Spoke too soon. Entered combat against some droid and locked up again. Here are my particulars: Show spoiler (hidden content - requires Javascript to show) [sWKotOR] ReportDateTime=8/21/2013 9:20:36 PM SysInfoVersion=v1.00.60 GameExists=1 GameVersion=v2.10.427 GameInstallLocation=C:\Program Files (x86)\LucasArts\SWKotOR2\ [OS] Name=WinXP Version=Windows XP v5.1 build 2600 Service Pack 2 Service Pack=None Status=Pass [swapFiles] c:\pagefile.sys=100 [CPU] CPUCount=4 CPUSpeed=3100 CPUFamily=6 CPUModel=10 CPUStepping=9 CPUVendor=Intel CPUName= Intel® Core i5-3350P CPU @ 3.10GHz Status=Pass [Memory] RAM=4096 Status=Pass [Disk Free Space] C: (NTFS), UNICODE=95.10GB E: (NTFS), UNICODE=61.82GB F: (NTFS), UNICODE=64.52GB G: (NTFS), UNICODE=71.37GB H: (NTFS), UNICODE=26.95GB I: (NTFS), UNICODE=48.95GB J: (NTFS), UNICODE=53.36GB K: (NTFS), UNICODE=70.01GB Status=Pass [CD-ROMs] DriveLetters=D:\ Drives=ASUS DRW-24B1ST a ATA Device [Video] Video Card Name=RDPDD Chained DD Video Memory=4096 Desktop Resolution=0x0x0 DirectX=DirectX 9.0c ( OpenGL Version=4.3.0 OpenGL Vendor=NVIDIA Corporation OpenGL Renderer=GeForce GTX 660 Ti/PCIe/SSE2 NVidia Driver=(null) Vid Card Status=Warning Vid Card Driver Status=Fail GL Status=Pass DX Status=Pass [Audio] Sound Card Name=Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio) Status=Pass ;Game Options from swkotor2.ini [Display Options] FullScreen=1 Disable Movies=0 Disable Intro Movies=0 Sort Modules=1 Width=1280 Height=768 BitsPerPixels=32 RefreshRate=60 [sound Options] Music Volume=85 Voiceover Volume=85 Sound Effects Volume=85 Movie Volume=85 Number 3D Voices=32 Number 2D Voices=32 2D3D Bias=1.00 Force Software=0 EAX=0 Sound Init=0 Disable Sound=0 [Graphics Options] V-Sync=1 Anisotropy=16 Frame Buffer=1 Anti Aliasing=8 Texture Quality=2 Grass=1 Soft Shadows=1 Shadows=1 Brightness=57 RefreshRate=60 Height=768 Width=1280 EnableHardwareMouse=1 FullScreen=1 Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=1 [Game Options] UnlockedPlanetSongs=3 Enable Tooltips=1 Keyboard Camera Deceleration=2000.000000 Keyboard Camera Acceleration=500.000000 Keyboard Camera DPS=200.000000 TextureVariation=1 BodyVariation=0 AppearanceType=177 PCGender=0 GameCompleted=0 CurSithLord=0 Hide InGame GUI=1 Use Small Fonts=0 Hide Unequippable=0 Tutorial Popups=1 Subtitles=1 Mini Map=0 Floating Numbers=1 Status Summary=1 Enable Mouse Teleporting To Buttons=1 Mouse Sensitivity=44 Difficulty Level=1 Auto Level Up NPCs=0 Mouse Look=0 AutoSave=1 EnableScreenShot=0 Reverse Mouse Buttons=0 Reverse Ingame YAxis=0 Reverse Minigame YAxis=0 Combat Movement=1 TooltipDelay Sec=1 EDIT3: At the risk of jinxing myself (again), I think I may have found the solution. 6. Thanks for the suggestion. Since zbyl2 was the person who posted in that thread, he was the one I tried first. I have a couple of PM; one or both may be from him.

Re: Deadlystream, I was trying to avoid creating yet another account on the internet, but if push comes to shove, I'll try that next. I appreciate the help!

  7. Just found this and thought it might be worth sharing. Confirmed that it will work with TSL ini-hacked to 1280x768 (and look pretty spiffy doing it). EDIT: for clarity - you don't need the steam version or uniws in order for it to work.
  8. I wish someone had told me a while ago that RDR was such an awesome game.

  9. I think I'm suspending my belief in coincidences for the remainder of this week.

  10. Not necessarily a bad place to be :)

IIRC, I helped Benny the first few times. Then I killed him once or twice. Then I just left him there the rest of the time. Currently trying to satisfy a Skyrim jones. Perhaps I'll return to the Mojave after I wrap up in Nordlandia.

  11. If it helps, i think they are still counting Florida.

  12. I'm wearing mine. Looking good, but I'm not sleeping till they call Ohio.

  13. Here you go: http://lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=153012
  14. 2.8 Million - Hardcore mode 3.0 Million - Drew Karpyshyn has to sharpen pencils for the writing team while wearing a dunce cap. Unfortunately, it will be few weeks before I am able to invest, but I will be in the credits as well. Hopefully, it will be close to 3.0 million at that point because I would hate to have to rob a bank to make that stretch goal happen.
  15. Leviathan was fun. The new weapon mods were a pleasant surprise. Was really hoping that there were enough war assets to allow me to get the "perfect" ending without multiplayer. Come to find out, they bumped the threshold down to 3100 when the released the Extended Cut earlier in the month.

It could have used a tad bit more exposition, but it was nice finally getting an explanation for where the Reapers came from and how the cycle began. If you're going to steal, then I suppose stealing from Avellone can't be the worst thing that could happen.

And, in the interest of saving the glowing praise for last, they did a fantastic job of integrating the DLC with the game (i.e. crew members have banter and post-mission dialog, etc).

  16. LOL. Oddly enough I was thinking about troll bowling today after reading my email :)

I'm between games atm. TSLRP 1.8 is something I've yet to experience. I started a PC run of FO:NV but didn't make it out of goodsprings (discovered GECK and got distracted). Also, feeling that I still have another ME2/3 run rattling around inside somewhere. Sigh.

  18. uhhh...where the hell do I find the duster/hat mod in the screenies for Nevada Skies? *drool*

    Good stuff! :) Gracias.

  19. got to a comfortable stopping place with Skyrim. Might circle 'round after another patch or two. Did a xbox FONV run to get the last pending achievement. Installing the PC version now. Any recommended mods you want to throw my way would be greatly appreciated :)

Hope you had a safe and happy 4th.

  20. Nice. Romney raised 2mil today, so I threw a few bucks Obama's way. :)

  21. Todd Howard says Skyrim DLC will be fewer, and further between, but bigger and more substantial. The verdict?

"You're looking at around eight to 10 hours of gameplay to complete the main Dawnguard storyline, but the reality of it is still slightly insubstantial. Too many of the missions feel like padding, with lots of fetch-questing and "find X number of Y" objectives, and the story gets stretched even thinner as a result.

It's a strange one, then. Apart from the (sadly) expected Bethesda hiccups - erratic quest markers, odd spawn glitches - there's nothing really wrong with Dawnguard. At the same time, there's nothing here that demands 1600 Microsoft Points' worth of attention. If all you want is a solid side quest and some good loot, this will scratch that itch. If you were hoping for something more epic and ambitious, keep waiting."

  22. I got through the first two this morning while getting ready for work. Impressed that they added an option, but don't think I'll be rushing to try it. I wish to congratulate you on your genius, sir. You appear to have been one of the rare humans who were able to figure out the end without the extra 6 minutes of PowerPoint slides
