Hekx
Check this out. (Psyk0Sith style. ) Also, I'm sure you need 3D Max to import the model into JK2.
The Cheat
shouldnt this be in another section of the forums like general editing?

YautjaZer0
So there is no way in hell i can use milkshape3d for exporting any of my jk2 models unless i buy 3dmax!?
AzureAngel
lets say you have a program that can save models as 3D max then what? and what about saber hilts? how do you put them into mods and stuff
Anavel Gato
You need Max, these tutorials, JK editing tools and about 80 hours time and you're all set http://www3.sympatico.ca/psykopat/tutorials/jk2_guide.htm http://www3.sympatico.ca/psykopat/tutorials/spacemonkey/jk2.htm http://www3.sympatico.ca/psykopat/tutorials/skin_modifier.htm
AzureAngel
would it work with GMAX?
Anavel Gato
One of the things that you need to do is rigg the character with the JK2 skeleton. This is something that you cannot do in GMax or Milkshape but have to use 3ds max for. Maybe there's some way to do this in Softimage but I think that costs even more $$$ than 3ds max. Wudan
If someone wrote an exporter for MilkShape it would work. No one has written an exporter for MilkShape - Aye, there's the rub. GMax == No Way. The format is encrypted and discreet shuts you down if you write unauthorized tools (though technically you can't copyright a format, they've been succesful in their anti-useful crusade in the past.) Does anyone use Blender? I've always been interested in Blender.

Psyk0Sith
Hmm usually in file export, then select .3ds, other formats also work but you need the right import plugin for 3D max (like .md3, .obj...)

tFighterPilot
Do it all with 3D Studio Max, it's better. Anyway, you need to put the dle and the dli files inside the plugins folder.
YautjaZer0
but what if i made a model already inside milkshape!? can i still use it? i did put the plugins in the plugin folder and its still dont work:confused:
tFighterPilot
If you want to take a model from MilkShape, you would need to export it to something that 3D Studio Max can read.
tFighterPilot
Are the plugins in dlo or dli format?
