rut-wa jodar
I want to setup a duel server where i can have saber battles like in KOTOR or the starwars movies. I want loads of saber blocking and saberlocks. Can anyone recommend some settings to make this possible. TIA.
Clemme w/Stick
Yep, get KOTOR . I dont think thats its possible to do in JA. -Clemme
Master William
That's what sucks with the JK series. But then again, I haven't seen a game with the possibility to block, it's always like ''I hit you, then you hit me!''
lukeskywalker1
yeah, its not possible in jk, it would be kool though.
Amidala from Chop Shop
Add\edit these lines to your server.cfg file: seta g_saberLocking "1" seta g_saberLockFactor "20" That will enable and increase the frequency of saber locks.
rut-wa jodar
I would be happy if i could have the same amount of blocking/parrying which JK2 1.04 patch gave. I know alot of people hated it but i think it would make duels look more theatrical
Andy867
actually, when 1.03 came out for JO, the block just standing near each other would create autoblocking. I used to do small clips(before I reformatted my PC) of just standing there, and seeing my character defend against well, an idle enemy
Neverhoodian
If you choose the light side in SP, you are treated to a short movie-style lightsaber duel with Alora before she injures Rosh. Actually, I think Raven must've listened to at least a few gamer's comments as lightsaber blocks, while not frequent enough for some, occur more than in JO. Kurgan
You can also lower saberdamage g_saberdamagescale 1 (or even lower, like .5 if you're really crazy). g_sabertracesaberfirst 1 (I *think* that's the proper spelling, I don't use it much myself, increases blocking ability with sabers) Note that these settings are NOT recommended for non duels, as they'll just make the sabers very near worthless in battle, but makes duels last a lot longer. D8alus
You guys DO realize that attacking an attack works just as effectively as a block, right? (it's called 'Parrying') Trust me, I've gotten into some pretty spectacular parrying bouts with my buddies...it's possible.
rut-wa jodar
I would assume that their is no way to actually increase the amount of parrying. I expect it`s part of the saberblocking cvar.
Jaden007
You could also get the "Sabers Mod" i think its called on Lucasfiles.net Its the real saber sounds to from the duel of Darth Maul and Obu and QGJ it makes duels more realistic and saber blocks awsome

The only time that cvar makes a difference is when the saber trace hits the player and then hits the saber hitbox. From a code standpoint, what this cvar does is remove all the player hitboxes, runs the trace, and then runs the trace with the player models. At least this is how it worked for JK2. razorace
In layman's terms, it means that sabertracesabersfirst makes the sabers clash when one of the player's bodies is blocking the the path to the saber. Meaning that you can hit a player's saber THRU his chest if he's facing away from you.
WillyWonka
What ever happened to the gamers? Do they play this game at all? I can't believe someone can suggest garabage uber blocking for a more "Theatrical" saber battle and not get flamed to death. Halo must have stolen more players then I thought. Andy867
yea, and with the delay of H2 because of the partial source code theft, more and more will play either JA or Halo.
