Boba Rhett Posted February 8, 2004 Posted February 8, 2004 I found a picture of the cover drawn of my grandpa for the saturday evening post back in 1948 and I thought I'd show you guys. For those not familar with that magazine, it's the one Norman Rockwell would do covers for. This one wasn't done by Rockwell though. It was done by Mead Schaeffer. They stopped by my grandfather's farm one day in early 1948 and asked if they could take a picture and they took that one. Then later in 48' Mead drew the cover from the picture. Just in case that image doesn't work, I'll attach it.
Darth Homer Posted February 8, 2004 Posted February 8, 2004 That's pretty cool, Rhett Do you still have a copy of that edition?
Artoo Posted February 8, 2004 Posted February 8, 2004 Dude that's awesome! I love Norman Rockwell's stuff. It really personifies the look of that generation almost. His paintings he did for that magazine are very idyllic and pleasing for viewing.
Surfnshannon Posted February 9, 2004 Posted February 9, 2004 I always knew you guys came from a long line of hillbillies! JK that is very kewl! Great Keepsake!
Paragon_Leon Posted February 9, 2004 Posted February 9, 2004 This has given me another forum-inspiring-fun idea !! Who among you is a fair cartoon-artist and can make pencilled versions in avatar-form of those forummers who wish to have that done ?
Boba Rhett Posted February 9, 2004 Author Posted February 9, 2004 *fervidly points at eets* He's already done himself and me. The only challenge now is bribing him into doing more.
IG-64 Posted February 9, 2004 Posted February 9, 2004 that's cool, do you have the originall picture taken?
