Darth Exar Kun
i never really lost my "zest" for Rpgs but KOTOR renewed my love for Star Wars after EPS 1+2 turned it into deep deep hatred
Anach
I never played RPG before this, and doubt i will again, unless another like this comes along. I dont go for magic and wizards and small little top down stuff. Star Wars though. I'm a Sci-Fi nutter.
FiEND_138
My first RPG as well. In fact I thought I'd hate it since I'm primarily a FPS player. So wrong....so addicted.

A few similarities to KOTOR(they were made by the same company to begin with). The one thing I like in NWN that you *cant* do in KOTOR is just attack anyone thats standing in teh street or that you dont like....you can do this in NWN and it affects your alignment, ie your character being good or evil..... The 'camera' is NWN is great too, using your mouse roller you can zoom in and out instantaneously, KOTOR is all the same view of course.... txa1265
Being a 20+ year FPS vet, I had only played Diablo and thought that was 'RPG' ... and never went to look again. Last summer, I was so psyched about KotOR that I grabbed NWN for my Mac when it arrived Aug 5th. Installed that and played it, then SoU ... since then, including redoing part of NWN (Sorceror), playing HotU and still slogging my way through BG2, I'm probably at ~80% RPG for the last 6 months (15% JA, 2.5% XIII, 2.5% DX2). And I still have BG2:ToB, IWD and want to redo KotOR for a 4th time and some more NWN ... and that doesn't count Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance on my Game Boy Advance SP. So for me KotOR sparked a new love for RPG. Mike
Anach
Yeah had a look at NWN, but not for me.
TheLiberator34
Kotor didn't so renew my zest for RPG's as it did for star wars games. JA really wasn't a challenge but Kotor sure as hell was! Thank goodness lucasarts put that one in Bioware's hands.
Darth Exar Kun
is it just me or was JA really really bad
Anach
Yeahi played a part of JA and then got bored.
FiEND_138
Yes, JA was, IMO, really really bad. When I heard there was a light/dark choice, I was hoping it would be closer to DF2/KoTOR, where your actions determin your alignment. Not "shut your glow rod off ", to decide. Heres to hopin they make an enjoyable FPS jedi experience next time.
Samus
Originally posted by txa1265 Being a 20+ year FPS vet, I had only played Diablo and thought that was 'RPG' I've played lots of Diablo 2, and i thought that was 'RPG' as well, but now I know what a true RPG is. Diablo 2 is fun, but KOTOR has taken it's place at the top of my "best games ever list". Definitelyt going to try some more RPGs, like Baldurs Gate 2 and NWN. By the way, I didn't think JA was bad. Could have been better, yeah, but to call it really, really bad is a bit much, don't you guys think?
leXX
I was in the middle of NWN:SoU when I got KotOR. NWN was the first true RPG I ever played. I've alway's preffered FPS's since the time of DOOM, but after 80+ hours of NWN shere enjoyment and finally completing it, I only wanted more. I have a new love for RPG's, and I will be buying a hell of a lot more in the future. KotOR is in my top five games of all time, along with NWN. I have to disagree with Darth Exar Kun. JA was not that bad, if a little short lived. The two different path endings could of differed more, but I still enjoyed it, and MP is hella fun. Of course, it doesn't come close to KotOR, but I don't even think the two games should be compared.
UndyingSamurai
playing kotor resurrected my lust for PC RPG's so I lunged headfirst into my messy closet and found my prized copies of Fallout and Fallout 2. Before Kotor, these were the only PC RPG's that I played. I still love em. Any other suggestions of fine PC RPG now tham i'm hooked?

Darth Exar Kun
ok i was a bit harsh but i played it right after KOTOR, but oyu have to admit that your choices made no difference a roidan or kel dor should sound the same a human IMO since kel dor's can't really talk. Personally i think it pales in comparision to Jedi Knight or Outcast. It seemed like they took all the mods from OUtcast downgraded them and made them a single player game. multiplayer is fun yes but its not much different then JO. Allthough even if the play was bad. the story was worse and inaccurate seeing as Marka Ragnos lived at least 5000+ years before the game since he was dead in the GOlden Age of the Sith comics and they are 5000 years before A New Hope. I thought Korribin was ilustrated much better in KOTOR since 100s of true sith and new sith were burried there in its existence the planet wasn't a shrine to Marka Ragos. Astrotoy7
I developed a harsh dislike of JA immediately after KOTOR too.... But I am a bit more rational now, as I have realised that JA could never have achieved what KOTOR did, as they are totally different games. Also, having hung about in the JA forums for a while, I really got put off all the (MP) bickering that was going on... it really soured my perception of the game(in hindsight), and I wasnt even an MP person....! I have always been a huge Final Fantasy fan, so have never lost my zest for that genre of "Japanese RPG".... I finally get Final Fantasy X-2 next week !!! Have been playing Final Fantasy Tactics on my GBA since september, and plodding through NWN from scratch, so my gaming life is RPG all the way now(apart from the console sports romp when friends drop around)...
