So what are the faithful to do if they don't want to watch the altered 1997 editions of the trilogy? Either give in, or don't buy. "We realize there's a lot of debate out there," says Ward. "But this is not a democracy. We love our fans, but this is about art and filmmaking. [George] has decided that the sole version he wants available is this one."

jabba in ANH and greedo shooting first both suck. but i like most of the other changes, like the wampa scene, bespin, mos eisley, the better explosions and moving heads inside ships.

i'm just glad they're finally releasing the OT on DVD

Han is meant to be a hero though. And he did have his gun ready to shoot first so he gets both personas in one.

I liked the jabba in Ep 4 except I dont believe hed let Han get away with stepping on his tail.

I hope they have the deleted scenes because theres one on Hoth where C3P0 leads some snowtroopers into some wampas .

i love everything in the special edition, but i heard a rumour that Lucas will be putting in scenes of Natalie Portman into RotJ as Leia's flashbacks.

Please tell me this is just a rumour... :(

i believe it was an idea GL was considering... but i doubt it will happen.

Han is meant to be a dark hearted scoundrel who has a slow change of heart to help these people he grows to care for, if he's already a galant hero it ruins his transition.

I guess you're right there.

But there is the bit where he tells Greedo to go tell jabba something, so shooting him kind of makes that pointless. But you're right.

I seem to recall reading that he was originally planning on doing this, but more recently decided not to. I think it was on the Jedi Council question thing at one point.

  • 2 weeks later...

I know I'm new, so some of you guys won't believe me, but anyway...

My dad works for 20th Century Fox, and as a big fan of Star Wars I asked him to find this out for me. He says that the versions, as far as he was able to find out, are the 1997 versions with some NEW scenes that Lucas added during Episodes I, II and maybe even III.

Sucks, huh :(
