EpII-style Jedi robe character recolours...

Prime

Recommended Posts

Well, after a lot of fuss the new Jedi Robes are finally up for download. Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, Mace, and Anakin are available. These mods are just the textures, which means they can be used either to replace existing robes or added using cheats.

Anyway, without further delay, they can be had at Warped Productions

Thanks to anyone who tries them out :)

coolness, can't wait to get home and try them out

thanks Prime :)

say, if i want to replace obi's robes with your previous robes mod, do i just rename the tga file to PMBI07.tga ?

and will it then get the same bonuses as the Qel-Droma robes?

Exactly right. The original robe mod just uses whatever textures are named PMBI07.tga for the light robes and PMBI08.tga for the dark robes. So replacing those files with any of the new ones will work.

Yes. The bonuses are defined in the other non-texture files (.uti files). Just replacing the .tga texture won't affect how the robes actually work in the game. You will still get the full bonuses and they will still be found in the same places.

Sorry about bumping an old topic, but I tried putting those EP2 robes in my game, but the cheat command won't put them into my inventory.

I did as it said in the readme, extracting the PMBI01.tga to the Overide folder, then changing the name to PMBI06.tga, and i have cheats enabled. But when I go into the game and type it in, nothing happens.

Are you trying to give the .tga file?

I'm not sure what you mean. I just followed the installation instructions in the readme file, so whichever file it told me to extract to the override folder is the one I extracted.

Ach is asking what you type in after you type

giveitem

what do you then type ? g_w_lghtsbr03 for example

I think I know what is up here. Okay when you rename it PMBI06.tga and putting it into the Override folder all you are really doing is changing the texture of the Qel-Droma robes, so after you type in giveitem g_a_jedirobe06 you will get a new Qel Droma robe if you slap that sucker on then you will have on your newly retextured Qel-Droma Robe. However if you want your robe to be an entirely new robe you are going to have to edit a .uti file for a robe and change the texvar number to 07 or up and then you are going to have to change the PMBI06 to 07 or up matching it with the texvar number in the .uti, simple no?

Well if you've got more questions please keep them in this post so we don't clutter up the board, but don't be afraid to ask more questions.

If I change/alter a .uti file, does that mean that one of the current robes will be replaced? I'm not too good with this kind of thing, so I'm hesitant to edit something that I might inadvertantly have screwed up something important or necessary.

Other people seem to have used the robes, so I'm wondering whether they had trouble installing them, or if they worked after following the readme.

Did you try putting on the Qel-Droma robes? Because the Qel Droma robes will look like whatever robe you downloaded if you named it PMBI06.

And no if you extract the .uti all you have to do to it is rename the file itself and change the texvar number and you wont replace any of the in-game robes you will simply create a new one.

if you change or alter the uti file for say g_a_jedirobe06 and leave it at the same name then yes it will overwrite the current uti file

however , if oyu rename the uti file to say g_a_jedirobe10 then it will be a new item that you can add to your inventory

you could extract the uti file for the Qel Droma robes from your game , rename the extracted file to 10 rather then 06 , then open it up and change the texture variance to 10 and rename the tgs file to 10 aswell

you will also need the small inventory graphic aswell , find the one for your 06 robe and extract that then rename it to 10 aswell

No, the originals are stored in the game files what you put in the override directory merely 'overrides' the original. So depending on what the new .uti is named you can override something in game or you can create something new. I prefer new.

I think everyone feels that way in the beginning, I know I did, but no you can't screw up the game by altering most files and putting them in the override directory, though you can get some really strange or funny results.

Like Darth333's army of Deadeye Duncans on Manaan. :D

You said you renamed the robe texture 'PMBI06.tga' and that sounds like your problem it should be 'PMBI01.tga' try that in your override and see if it works.

Quel-Dromas Robes use TextureVar 1, at least they do on my machine, I just looked and yup its a 1. I hope this helps.:D

I may be to blame for this one, GhostofAnakin. :(

I think the readme may be wrong, as you found out. IIRC the Qel-Droma robes uses the default brown texture PMBI01.tga. So renaming the .tga file to PMBI06.tga causes it not to get used (since the .uti file doesn't point to it). I'm not sure why I screwed this up...

How would you like to use the texture extactly? If you want to use the skin solely for the Qel-Droma robes, you can alter the g_a_jedirobe06.uti file to point to PMBI06.tga. This is pretty easy. If you don't care if other robes use the texture as well, you can just leave it as PMBI01.tga and use the giveitem g_a_jedirobe06 cheat to get the Qel-Droma robes. This will use the new texture instead of the default.

I hope that makes sense. It is late and I'm overly tired. I will correct the readmes for the robes and put them up on my site. I'm glad you found this issue. :) Sorry for the confusion...

LOL I think I might have confused everyone with my problem. I'm not sure why the Qel-Droma robes were mentioned (other than I guess that's what the corresponding PMBI01.tga file represents), but I actually don't want that robe touched. All I was looking to do was use the robes that Prime (you) made for Anakin, Obi-wan, Qui-Gon, and Mace. I was hoping not to actually have to replace any of the existing robes, rather just add those 4 robes to my inventory.

My problem also is I can't seem to find any .uti files anywhere. I'm not sure which folder in the KOTOR directory I'm supposed to be looking at, so all I did was extract those files (the ones off Prime's site) directly into the "Override" folder, without knowing where or what to change. Sorry all for the confusion.

That would be the problem. I didn't know I needed to use that. I just figured it was like the Darth Revan mod (white robe), which I just unzipped into the override folder and it worked fine.
