Astrotoy7
oooh great ! Another "Comic Book Movie" Hollywood does *so much* to advance the art form that is Cinema..... pft to the punisher ! I'll just wait till I get a bootleg dvd, rip it, and distribute it for free to all the 13-15 year olds in my suburb...... mtfbwya
toms
are you guys serious? this movie has got like the worst reviews of the year so far... several reviews have even said the dolph lundgren version was better!!!! it's got a score of just 29% on rotten tomatoes: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/ThePunisher-1131721/ I was watching Raw Deal (crappy early arnie film) and realised it was basically the same plot as the punisher. and the punisher basically has the same plot as every 80s straight to video action movie. Heck, shouldn't it star steven seagal? I tend to like the darker, MORE COMPLEX characters like batman. But a guy who kills people cos they killed his family isn't dark or complex. hellboy, on the other hand, sounds interesting....

Apparently, the critics at rotten tomatoes needs to be dragged into the street and beaten to within an inch of their life, or shot dead, flat out. And FYI: Punisher was out WAY before the 80's, so those movies jock the Punisher, not the other way around. Lets look back at what critics have said: Nothing worth noting. Seriously, if you base your media choices off of mass media PAYED critics, then your a sad sad heap of flesh. Edit: After reading what those critics have to say, all I want to say is Who listens to these ass clowns? Thats right, soccer moms and idiot masses. That doesn't change the fact it is a completely played out, unoriginal and simplistic straight-to-tv storyline. Can't see what this film has to offer that i can't get from an early steven segal movie. Originally posted by Kain Lets look back at what critics have said: Nothing worth noting. Edit: After reading what those critics have to say, all I want to say is Who listens to these ass clowns? Thats right, soccer moms and idiot masses. I never listen to one critic's opinion, as that is what they are, opinions. However I do take into account overall opinions of the whole range of critics. I tend to use IMDB and rottentomatoes and then pick a couple of positive reviews and a couple of negative reviews to read to find out if it is the sort of film i will like. The few positive reviews weren't exactly glowing, saying it was like an 80s b-movie as well. they just happened to be critics that liked 80s b-movies. I do the same with gamerankings.com and games. ---- I do try not to comment on things without having seen them, but since there is no chance at all that i will watch this unless it happens to be on a tv infront of me, and i don't have the energy to move, i felt i should post something about the reviews it was getting: so that people here didn't rush out and waste money based on a few fanboy reviews in this thread. Still looking foreward to hellboy though...
obi
I loved it. I didn't expect the cursing that was in it, it being a comic book-based movie, but it was good nonetheless. BTW, Jon Travolta was the perfect bad guy for the movie....
Master_Ginn
Yeah i thought it was a pretty good movie. It was a pretty angry movie i'd say. What was suprising to me how the people were so cold hearted and ruthless. Made me really wanna become the Punisher. That to me is a good movie, when it motivates you to kill bad guys! Did anyone else want to drive really fast after they saw that movie? i know i wanted to.....and i did.
