Mr Flibble
The Flibb~Meister is in dire straits. (Thats two jokes in one) As you may or may not know, I am creating my own MI5 game, due to George's inabilty to do so. It is very much like MI2. But basically, I would like some sort of music creation wing wang, so I don't have to rely on stuff other people did. Sure, I could record myself onto my PC playing a song I wrote, but that plan is fundamentally flawed for 2 reasons. 1. I can't play an instrument. 2. I can't play any instrument. I've seen things like Virtual Piano, but I'd prefer something more...alround, does any sound type thing, as opposed to just a piano. And I can adjust the speed and pitch and stuff. I will need to be able to save the music I create as either .mid, .midi, .mp3, or something like that. Lastly, it must be free. I know its a lot, but..............but I don't know how to finish that sentence. Help Me / Thanks in advance.

Alien426
Do you know a program with which to create samples? I'm not talking about samples to use in a tracker program, I want to have MP3s cut down to 30 seconds. I should be able to lock those 30 seconds, select the start of the selection, then preview and ultimately save the shortened file. It would be cool if there could automatically be a fade-in (if the selection doesn't start at the beginning of the original file) and a fade-out at the end. Thrik
One of the more popular "novice" music programs is Fruityloops. It's basically a full music composition/arrangement program, which is very flexible. It appeals to people new to the scene due to its pretty interface, but is powerful enough to create full orchestrial soundtracks should you reach that level of skill. Just be aware that a basic level of skill is required to use it, just like with anything else. Somebody that's never drawn in their life cannot just pick up a tablet 'n' Photoshop, then become Dan Lee. Be prepared to spend a considerable amount of time getting used to it, or any other similar software around (although this is the most ideal for you). There's a free trial version available on their site (google "fruityloops"), but you'd be better off obtaining a full version through .. alternative means.
