my enthusiasm toward the JO/JA phenomena has waned to the extent that the words "Raven Software" leave a bad taste in my mouth.... especially since I discovered Bioware, NWN and KOTOR :D

well, I really dont know what Mr Hoekstra's role was in JO/JA, but I hope he's talented enough not to disappear into ether like Larry Holland(who did the tie fighter games) did.....

The only Raven games I've played are JO and JA, so I don't know that much about the team. Still, I hope Mr. Hoekstra goes on to do great things.

Larry Holland was a bit of a victim of changing trends. Back when he made X-Wing and Tie Fighter, flight sims were "in." Nowadays it's mainly FPS games that are released. New flight sims are few and far between, and good ones are rarer still.

Despite the fact that he's not made many games as of late, Larry Holland is still respected in the gaming world. For instance, one of the selling points on the case of the recent game Secret Weapons Over Normandy was "From the critically-acclaimed creator of the Tie Fighter and X-Wing series!" Given the fact that the games are about a decade old, it says a lot about their quality.

Aww... Its sad to see him leave. I wonder if he completed his needed work on XMEN Legends? Because it was supposed to come out in September. Quake IV is out of the question because if I understand correctly, it is just getting started to be made. Still, its sad to see him go. :(
